The journey starts at sea level and gradually climbs to the Rijewa Mountains, 500 meters above sea level. The spectacular scenery along the way, framed by teak and rosewood plantations, and the dense deciduous forests of Sumba, is dazzling. The road winds down to Waikabubak, passing traditional villages and Sewah Falls, and the green scenery is picturesque, stretching from neat terraces to river valleys and dense forests, eventually giving you a glimpse of the majestic beauty of the Indian Ocean. Waikabubak is a traditional market town located on a plateau 400 meters above sea level. In the evening, you may see buffaloes being driven through the town. On the last leg of the journey, you will enjoy the vast scenery of the Wanokaka River Delta, where local tribesmen, armed with traditional swords and wearing Ikat turbans, graze their cattle in the rice fields. Finally, travel through local villages and arrive at the dreamy NIHI resort.
