Hop on a traditional Japanese wooden boat and cruise along the Satetsu River. Sail through Geikibei Gorge (which means “Lion’s Snout”) and admire the towering stone walls and dramatic rock formations. Gaze at the vivid red and orange trees reflected in the calm waters. Enjoy the tranquil forest atmosphere and spot swimming carps and paddling ducks along the river. Continue to walk and follow your boatman to The Lion’s Snout rock formation. Purchase a lucky stone, make a wish, then try to toss it into a small cliff opening on the opposite side of the river. On your way back, your boatman will sing a local folk song.
