More about Aquaria KLCC

Learn More about Marine Animals in Aquaria KLCC

Aquaria KLCC is a grand aquarium and marine park located in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. This aquarium is 5,575 square meters in area and claimed as one of the biggest aquariums in Southeast Asia. As home to 5,000 marine animals from more than 150 species, Aquaria KLCC is an excellent destination for both leisure and educational family trip. Aquaria has a strategic location as it is close to Petronas Twin Towers. This tourist attraction is easy to find, and more importantly, can serve as a direction mark where you and your family travel around the city. Here are some interesting things that you can do and see in Aquaria.

Pet Marine Animals in Gene Pool

Located on Level 1, Gene Pool is a petting aquarium where you can touch a variety of marine animals with unique textures, including corals and starfish. As you do so, the guide will tell you some facts and information about those animals. This pool is the best place to introduce the uniqueness of marine animals to your children.

See the Ship Wreckage in the Grand Aquarium

The grand aquarium serves as the main attraction in Aquaria. It shaped like a tunnel with a length of 90 meters and complemented by the replica of ship wreckage. When walking along this tunnel, you will find several species of large fish swimming in the aquarium, including sharks and manta rays. Sea reptiles, such as giant turtles, can also be found lurking around the aquarium. Once you’ve reached the end of the tunnel, you can continue your journey by visiting The Stream, a special area for cute marine mammals like otters.

See the Fish and Animals from the Tropical Rainforests

Aquaria features Amazon Flooded Forests, which is an exclusive area to display fish from the tropical rainforest. This section combines an exhibition room and a large aquarium filled with freshwater fish, such as piranha and arapaima (the world’s biggest freshwater fish). On Level 2 of Aquaria lies Jewels of the Jungle, a special zone for tropical reptiles and amphibians. You can see various species of unique snakes, tarantula, frogs, and lizards. The information centre in this area is complete and interesting, so visitors of all ages can interestingly learn about animals.

See Some “Strange” Marine Animals

If you are wondering about “strange” marine animals and how they live, you should visit the Weird & Wonderful zone. This area shows several types of sea animals that will not be seen on everyday basis. These include nautilus, unique octopus, jellyfish, and deep-sea fish. The information about those animals will make you more amazed. One of the main attractions in this zone is Japanese Spider Crab, a large crab species whose feet length reaches 100-120 centimetres.

Dive with Sharks

Pump your adrenaline level by diving with the real sharks in Aquaria KLCC. Diving with Sharks program allows visitors to dive in the special tank filled with large sharks that are pretty wild in their habitat. However, all sharks in this tank are only 5 years of age and have been tamed, so it is perfectly safe for you to dive with them. This program is also supported by safety features and experienced staff. Because of its high risk, not all visitors are allowed to join Diving with Sharks program. To be able to participate, you should hold a diving certificate and insurance, as well as willing to sign a statement letter.

Watch Fish-Feeding Time

The management of aquarium schedules fish-feeding time at specific times. You can watch the staff feed sharks and Arapaima every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Arapaima is fed at 2.30 PM, while sharks are fed at 3 PM at local time. Are you looking for unique and exciting experience? You can watch the staff feed Japanese spider crab at 11.30 AM every Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. Those who love cuter things can watch otter feeding time at 11.30 AM and 4.30 PM.
