About Elephant Care Camp at Mae Taman | Chiang Mai

— What You Can Expect —

Journey to a fantastic elephant camp located in Mae Ta Man village, Mae Taeng District of Chiang Mai! Surrounded by mountains small and large, this area will stun you with its scenery, especially early during the day when the sky is slightly misty. Just before twilight, the blanketed mountains are simply a sight to behold!

The camp also has a proportional management system in place for the elephants on a large plot of land, inclusive of mud ponds, strolling paths, and an elephant resting area.

Here, together with experienced caretakers, you'll get up close and personal while interacting with these gentle giants. During your interaction, you'll get to prepare their food, feed them, make special vitamin balls, and bathe together with them!

** Travellers are advised to bring a hat, bathing suit, sunscreen, insect repellent, towel, walking shoes and a change of clothes

— Itinerary —

Package A: Half-Day

6:30 am–7:00 am/11:30 am–12:00 pm: Pickup from your hotel or accommodation and drive approximately 1 hour from Chiang Mai city

8:30 am/1:00 pm: Arrive and start with the activities
• Change into traditional Karen village clothing
• Meet the elephants and feed, interact, take pictures and walk with them
• Indulge in a mud spa with the elephants
• Enjoy bathing and brushing the elephants
• Change your clothes and enjoy a hearty lunch

1:00 pm/5:00 pm: Say goodbye to the elephants and head back to your accommodation

2:00 pm/6:00 pm: Arrive at your hotel or accommodation

Package B: Full Day

8:00 am–8:30 am: Pickup from your hotel or accommodation and drive approximately 1 hour from Chiang Mai city, through rolling hills and a pristine green forest

9:30 am: Arrive and start the elephant day program
• Change into traditional Karen village clothing
• Learn about the history, anatomy, and behaviour of Asian elephants
• Meet the elephants and feed, interact, take pictures and walk with them

11:30 am: Learn how to cook papaya salad and enjoy a hearty lunch

1:00 pm: Learn how to make vitamin balls for the elephants
• Indulge in a mud spa with the elephants
• Enjoy bathing and brushing the elephants

3:30 pm: Say goodbye to the elephants and head back to your accommodation

4:30 pm: Arrive at your hotel or accommodation
