With Hong Kongese executive chef Chef Jimmy Wong onboard, the Four Seasons’ Chinese restaurant is bound to serve authentic Cantonese cuisine. Overlooking the iconic KLCC park, diners are treated to an array of freshly made dim sum such as the flavorful steamed charcoal lava bun with salted egg custard filling and steamed crystal shrimp dumplings. While Yun House is famous for its dim sum, they also have à la carte menu that features claypot, vegetables, rice and noodles, barbecued meats and more. Some of the menu highlights include deep fried eggplant with cereal, Peking duck and braised egg flat noodles with Boston lobster in spicy scallop sauce. OpenHouse is quickly becoming one of the most attractive restaurants in the city with its opulent interior design of Peranakan themes with contemporary urbanity. However, the restaurant shines with classic Malay dishes that have been given a modern twist. The restaurant takes pride in creating dishes with local produce such as umai prawn Borneo, octopus sambal petai and a medley of village greens including pucuk gajus, banana hearts, ulam raja and cekur which is accompanied with a peanut sauce dressing. Continuing the theme of local flavors in the menu, their cocktails also comprise of local touches with aromatics like assam boi, pandan water and coconut milk.

Do note that the restaurant has a strict dress code and a house rule policy of only smart business attire and no children below 10 years old.

Majapahit in Mont Kiara offers multi-cuisine dishes with influences from Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia and Vietnam. Isabel KL is more than just an Instagram-worthy restaurant. It offers a delectable variety of Southeast Asian cuisine, especially Vietnamese, Indonesian, Thai and local delights. The highlights include southern Thai-Spanish mackerel yellow curry, Vietnamese-style roasted short ribs and gulai tumis oxtail. The restaurant also offers ulam platter with cucumber, cabbage, ulam raja and pegaga that comes with spicy sambal belacan for an extra kick. For desserts, the house-made ciku ice cream is a must try, and the banana fritters with gula Melaka ice cream is a classic.

Fuego is a well-known dining destination in Kuala Lumpur for its panoramic views of KL city centre and an equally amazing Latin American influenced cuisine. The restaurant is famous for its guacamole that they even have a dedicated guacamole chef! Each bowl of guacamole comes with homemade chips of plantain, yam, sweet potato, taro root and lotus root. There are different kinds of guac that you can choose according to your preference — from classic guac to slightly exotic ones such as the smoked eel and pickled prawn guac. The latest addition to the menu is the tacos. The restaurant made sure that the tortillas are made fresh daily with yellow maize flour and then chargrilled for a smoky flavour. There are three different fillings available: chicken, beef and fish, promising something for everyone.

“Eclectic food” were the words that Chef Jo used to describe his restaurant. Chef Jo is a former juror on the cooking reality TV show MasterChef Malaysia and the dishes offered have been given a fancy twist. Case in point: the signature ‘pitzaal’ is a thin crust dough, with crispy fried chicken Marmite, topped with pineapple, kiwi and onions on a cream base, and sprinkled with mozzarella cheese. You can also choose to try the Mexican-Malaysian hybrid of rice pudding topped with Musang King durian gelato and wash down your dinner with a cup of foamy Nitro coffee with cotton candy.

For a more casual dining out with friends or family, head over to Lucky Peaches where they serve rich and vibrant Asian-inspired cuisine. Some of the must-try includes Taiwanese wok black Chilean mussels which is served in fish broth infused with sake, scallion, tomato, fresh Thai basil and served with toasted sourdough bread. Another signature dish is the ch’cken guling rice bowl, which was inspired by the Balinese pork guling. Its sublime flavours of Asian kaffir lime pesto served with lemongrass pulled chicken definitely packs a flavorful punch. The restaurant also serves cakes and bread from the famed Huckleberry Food & Fare.

Little Rimba is the little sister of Kota Damansara’s Rimba dan Rusa cafe, and while the interior space are almost similar between the two, the menu could not be more different. The restaurant is more on the casual side and serves Malaysia’s classic cuisines. The star of Little Rimba is the lontong, where nasi impit (rice cakes) and vegetables are doused in coconut milk curry. It is served with peanut sauce and sambal— the kind of dish that could evoke memories of mom’s cooking. Other local delights on the menu are pengat durian, soto ayam, assam laksa and nasi lemak ayam goreng berempah.

Bijan has been around for almost two decades and it is no wonder why it is still going strong in the highly competitive F&B business. The restaurant prides itself in offering fine Malay cuisine with a touch of finesse. It is not very common in Kuala Lumpur to find a restaurant that offers a refined Malay dining experience. One of the must-tries is the rusuk panggang, a chargrilled marinated short ribs. Don’t let the dark textures put you off though, the meat is actually juicy and tender, the melt-in-your-mouth sort. Another signature dish from Bijan is the asam pedas seabass, where the fish is simmered in tangy chili and tamarind gravy with okra, resulting in the perfect balance of spicy and sour.

If you are craving for a good plate of pasta, Eatalia is the place to be. Any Italian restaurant that serves homemade pasta and baked their pizza in a wood fire oven is legit and deserves a visit. With years of experience in the F&B business under its belt, you can expect your tummy to be satisfied. You won’t go wrong ordering the squid ink ravioli, which is prepared from scratch in Eatalia’s kitchen. The ravioli is served with baby scallops, pink peppercorn and immersed in saffron cream sauce. Fans of potato dumplings will love the gnocchi, which is submerged in a thick, robust gorgonzola sauce. The wood-fired pizzas are also a must-try, especially the Rustica that is perfect for sharing. Toppings include beef salami, tomatoes, peas, corn, rocket leaves and gorgonzola cheese.
