Have you been swept up by the ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ craze yet? The rom-com romp has captivated filmgoers with its dreamy destinations and all-star cast, giving you the opportunity to catch a rare glimpse into the lifestyles of Asia’s rich and famous.

While the characters featured in the movie are – unfortunately – not real, most of the movie was filmed in locations set right in our neck of the woods! So even if you can’t afford to live it up as lavishly as the affluent and larger-than-life characters, you can still imagine yourself in their shoes as you visit these locations in Singapore and Malaysia:

Singapore

1. Raffles Hotel

Who wasn’t filled with envy when they got a peek at the gorgeous Sir Stamford Raffles Presidential Suite at Raffles Hotel where Nick and Rachel had a romantic stay? But before you check available dates for booking, you should know that the colonial-style luxury hotel is currently closed as it’s undergoing renovation work. However, the grand reopening is planned for early 2019, so you can plan ahead!

2. Marina Bay Sands

Marina Bay Sands

Marina Bay Sands is one of Singapore’s most iconic landmarks – its SkyPark is home to the world's largest rooftop pool, offering visitors breathtaking views of the city’s skyline. The integrated resort has everything you could need for a relaxing getaway with world-class restaurants and top luxury brands at your doorstep. For the culture mavens, there’s also the Sands Theatre and ArtScience Museum.

3. Gardens by the Bay

Gardens By The Bay

The futuristic, almost-alien Supertrees installation is one of the movie’s most unforgettable backdrops, standing in as the venue of Collin and Araminta's wedding reception. The beautifully-maintained gardens feature temperature-controlled domes, picturesque lakes and meandering trails. Every night, the Supertrees come to life in a dazzling music and light display.

4. Chijmes

Chijmes

Pronounced as “chimes”, the Neo-classical-styled structure was initially built as a Catholic convent back in 1852, but has since been converted into a trendy shopping and entertainment center. You’ll recognize its impressive facade as the venue of Collin and Araminta’s wedding, where they were probably just as charmed of the green lawns and pretty courtyard as you will be.

5. Sentosa Island

Sentosa Island

The soft, sandy beaches of Sentosa Island were used for filming Collin’s wild bachelor party. A popular destination for sun-seeking tourists, the resort island is located just off Singapore’s coast and can be reached via road, cable car, pedestrian boardwalk and monorail. There are plenty of attractions to keep you busy, from Universal Studios Singapore to SEA Aquarium, but if you’re looking for someplace to chill, there’s the breezy and palm tree-lined Tanjong Beach.

Half-fish and half-lion, the mythical Merlion is Singapore’s national symbol. The statue resides at Merlion Park, proudly overlooking Marina Bay. In the film, Rachel and Nick take a stroll through the park and have an important conversation.

7. Four Seasons Resort Langkawi

It’s no surprise that Langkawi was used as the island paradise where Araminta held her bachelorette party. Tucked within the Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark, the Malay-style pavilions and villas of Four Seasons Resort Langkawi provide a welcome respite from the daily grind. Here, you’ll find peace while surrounded by pristine tropical rainforests and the tranquil, emerald waters of the Andaman Sea.

8. Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion

Cheong Fatt Tze Mansion is one of Penang’s most beloved heritage buildings, thanks to its eye-catching indigo color, which garnered it the nickname “Blue Mansion”. Part of the mansion is open to visitors on guided tours, but another part is reserved as a boutique hotel. So you can actually book a stay here, where Rachel and Eleanor played an intense session of Mahjong.
