When you see the outside of the hotel, you can feel the luxurious touch yet the magnificence in an instance and the historical building that it is. Yes, the history of the Raffles Hotel Singapore is also the charm of this hotel, both for the tourists and for the Singapore’s residents themselves. Even for Singapore’s residents, staying in Raffles Singapore is like a dream come true.

Also, after closing for two years and re-opening back in 2019, you probably want to see the new restoration that they made to Raffles Singapore which was said to have a high cost of renovation.

Now, the new Raffles Singapore is back to entertain you for your holiday, either with friends, families, or even only by yourself! Let’s take a look at why you should make a plan to stay in the iconic Raffles Hotel Singapore:

Raffles Hotel Singapore: A Place with a Rich History

Several renovations had been made to Raffles Hotel Singapore, but the first time it opened was back in 1887. It is a very long time ago and, believe it or not, Raffles Singapore was started as a 10 rooms hotel only. The name of Raffles Singapore was taken from the founder of Singapore, obviously, Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles.

The renovation of Raffles Hotel Singapore was made twice: in 1989 and reopened in 1991, and also in 2017 and reopened in 2019. Even though Raffles Singapore has undergone several renovations, it never loses the main touch of the hotel’s building: the colonial style. Thus, after all this time, with all the new hotels built along the years, Raffles Hotel Singapore can still be the iconic and the glamorous one, with the great colonial style still adopted in both its architecture and the inside’s decoration. Right now, Raffles Hotel Singapore is a part of the National Monument of Singapore.

Not only the appearance of the building has had a strong characteristic since a long time ago, but Raffles Singapore also had a part in the history of cocktails. Do you know the “Singapore Sling”? Yes, the Singapore Sling Raffles Singapore is a cocktail made for the first time by the Raffles Hotel Singapore’s bartender named Ngiam Tong Boon. Imagine the first time the Singapore Sling of Raffles was introduced to the bar’s visitors back in 1915! As spectacular as it is, The Singapore Sling of Raffles Singapore now has made it as a national cocktail too.

Yes, Raffles Singapore is a place with a rich history. If you have not stayed in Raffles Singapore, whether you’re a Singaporean or not, your days in Singapore have not yet completed.

The Graceful Suites of Raffles Hotel Singapore

Do not ever think that Raffles Singapore is like any other hotel. It is like a 19th century castle that will spoil you with their selection of suites!

Suites? Yes! In Raffles Singapore, we don’t call it a room. We call it a suite.

Started as a place for people to stay with only 10 rooms, today’s Raffles Hotel Singapore is a lavish hotel with 115 magnificent suites in total. These 115 rooms are divided into 9 types of suites, and we’re guaranteed, these selections will absolutely get you confused. All of them have a characteristic and cozy vibes, with the wooden floor, the bed design that is hard to find in any other place, the 19th century style of furniture, display, and decoration and not to mention the spacious room.

The other unique thing about the suites in Raffles Singapore is that some of them are named according to someone’s name as a tribute. Even though it feels trivial, a room with someone’s famous name actually feels more intimate. For example, the Promenade Suites have two choices: the Lady Mountbatten Suite that is named after the Countess of Burma and the Lady Sophia Suite that is named after the wife of the founder of Singapore, Sir Stamford Raffles, which name is used for the hotel itself.

Of course we won’t explain all of the 9 types of suites available in Raffles Hotel Singapore, yet it is quite hard to pick a favorite as well since all of them are very cozy and very aesthetic to the eye. But finally, we managed to decide on some of the suites that stole our heart the most.

Personality Suites. This 850 sq ft suite is our first favorite, not only because they are named after some legendary people, but also because each of the suites has the memorabilia inside. The total of Personality Suites are 12. The suites are tributes to Somerset Maugham, Ava Gardner, Charlie Chaplin, Joseph Conrad, Elizabeth Taylor, Rudyard Kipling, Noel Coward, Andre Malraux, James A. Michener, Pablo Neruda, John Wayne, and Gavin Young. Another fun fact is that all the names mentioned are people that had stayed in Raffles Hotel Singapore.
Residence Suites. If you want to experience ‘home’ during your stay in Raffles Singapore, you can definitely pick the Residence Suites. This type of suite offers you a large and spacious room, complete with the separated area of bedroom, living room, dining area and its pantry, working area, and a powder room. It is exactly like you move from your home to another home. Unlike the Personality Suites, the Residence Suites are named after the famous places of cinema. You can pick for the one bedroom suites (Alhambra Suite, Diamond Suite, Marlborough Suite, and Theater Royal Suite) and the only type two bedroom suite named the Odeon Suite. These are all the names of the cinemas in the neighborhood of Raffles Hotel Singapore.
State Room Suites. This one is located in the Bras Basah wings that are said to be the historic part of Raffles Singapore. If you love having your own verandah, you can choose the State Room Suites (even though there are other suites that own a verandah too). This suite overlooks the Fern Court. While you pick the State Room Suites for your place to stay in Raffles Hotel Singapore, you can enjoy the easy access to the Raffles Arcade, where you can find some nice boutiques and do some shopping.

There are still other suite choices that will mesmerize you, such as the Studio Suites, Courtyard Suites, Palm Court Suites, Promenade Suites, Grand Hotel Suites, and Presidential Suites. Each has their own specialty on the in-room facilities. If you want to browse for other suites, of course you can easily check it on Traveloka, while you can also check for the availability of the suite on the chosen date at the same time. Just remember, when the public holiday in Singapore comes, the competition to get the nicest room here will be tighter.

Anyway, when you stay in Raffles Singapore, you won’t only enjoy the in-room facilities (that we are sure will make you won’t come out of your room), but also other facilities, including the hospitality from the Raffles Singapore’s butlers. They said, “no task is too small” for the Raffles Hotel Singapore’s butler. Thus, they will provide you the best service and give the best assistance to all your needs during your stay here. That is why Raffles Hotel Singapore is considered as one of all favorite hotels in Singapore.

Enjoying the holiday means that you want to refresh yourself as well. Besides having a nice soak in your private bathtub, you can visit the Raffles Spa in Raffles Arcade. Choose the right treatment for you and enjoy the sanctuary of the place.

Other than the great service from the butlers and the relaxing spa, you will also enjoy the bars and the restaurants available in Raffles Hotel Singapore.
