5 hotels with amazing Ramadan buffet spread to buka puasa in

The holy month of Ramadan, which begins on May 6, is a time when Muslims all around the world practice daily fasting, and commune to break fast together. In Malaysia, a land that overflows with yummy food, there are plenty of restaurants and hotels offering amazing spread, also known locally as Ramadan buffets, for iftar (or “buka puasa” in the Malay language). For special breaking fast gatherings with family and friends, we’ve rounded up a list of hotels in Peninsular Malaysia offering Ramadan buffet. Plus, some of these establishments will contribute a portion of sales to the underprivileged during this month, so you’d get to do good while filling up your tummy — a win-win, we must say!

Let’s check ‘em out!

Petaling Jaya, Selangor: Cinnamon Coffee House, One World Hotel

If you’re craving for classic Malay dishes, you’d probably find them all at the Cinnamon Coffee House at One World Hotel in Petaling Jaya. This year, the buffet will showcase kampung-style dishes and local street fare from seven states of Selangor, Melaka, Perak and Negeri Sembilan. With six rotating menus comprising over 100 dishes daily, it’s not an overstatement to say the buffet spread has something for everyone.

Highlights: The flavorful Mamak-style chicken curry, the spicy sambal udang petai (prawn in petai beans stir-fried in chili paste) and beef curry. Make sure to check out the outside area for cendol, jellies and lemang!

For the food, the buffet will feature a Mongolian-style BBQ spread, and grilled lamb. Check out the “Robo-Wok” fried rice, whereby a robot-like machine would take only a minute to make fried rice. Pretty impressive, huh?

Price: RM120+ (adult)*, RM60+ (children aged 6 – 12 years old)
