As Thailand’s traditional New Year, Songkran is one of the country’s most important and widely celebrated festivals.
In 2025, it will take place from 13 to 15 April.
Songkran derives from the Sanskrit word Saṃkrānti, meaning "astrological passage."
Rooted in Buddhist customs and the lunisolar calendar, the festival begins with spring cleaning and ceremonial water pouring over sacred Buddha statues.
On the second day, younger people show respect to elders by gently pouring scented water over their hands and feet.
The water signifies cleansing, blessings, and the washing away of misfortunes.
Although the water fights are a modern twist, they represent a deeper spiritual meaning tied to renewal and goodwill.
In Thailand, entire streets are closed off for public celebrations.
People take to the roads with buckets and water guns to drench each other in good humour.

Wild Wild Wet transforms into a hub of Songkran action with designed Water Fight Zones.
From 15 March to 14 April, visitors can enjoy splash-filled games featuring an 8x8 meter inflatable maze and dunk tanks.
This is also your chance to try the Hasbro Nerf Super Soaker Dunk-Fill Water Blaster, adding a tech-savvy twist to traditional water play.
The dunk tank experience invites participants to drench their teammates with accurate shots, so expect lots of laughter and fun.
Wild Wild Wet hosts Turn Up the Heat & Chase the Beat as the sun sets, a Thai-themed music night featuring electrifying performances.
Notably, award-winning Thai singer Keng Tachaya will deliver live shows, supported by Thai DJs spinning energetic beats.
