Nice …. Basic but it is all we need. Need Ac in rooms but as an old building I doubt that could easily be installed. Pre reflecting it. Very affordable. Staid many times. No elevator. If you need help with your luggage you need to ask. Try boooking lower level. Very clean and comfortable. That is what matters for us

I love staying at the James Bay Inn. The exterior of this historic building is what originally caught my eye. Step inside to early 1900’s furniture throughout the building. The staff is wonderful - helpful and friendly, and that’s including the restaurant and pub folks. There are two balconies where you can sit enjoying a morning cup of tea or coffee, or evening beverage. A variety of room choices too. We like the location as it’s in a quiet neighborhood and walkable to the water (a few blocks down the street) and a 10-15 minute walk to the Inner Harbour area. Highly recommend James Bay Inn.

Excellent location, fully furnished, extremely comfortable. Stayed in the 2 bedroom cottage for 9 nights and it was amazing. Will absolutely stay again as my go-to place in Victoria.

Not the biggest fan... This is clearly an older building but it could use a significant refresh as it appears '80's or '90's vintage. The room had clearly been smoked in and had that lingering smoke smell... not sure if it was in the carpet or the mattress but I woke with a headache and my asthma flaring. The windows were open to mask the smoke smell but there were no screens on the windows. The shower used a plastic bathtub as a base and the bottom moved under my feet as I moved around. The floors all moved... not just creaked but moved and not one surface was level. This is not a bad hotel; just old and in need of a refresh... and when I say old... I mean old not quaint. The summer rates are not justified for the quality of product... this is at best a 3 star but probably closer to a 2 star product... Beware.

Well located and equipped. Great staff. Lovely property. Close to a grocery store. Only issue was lack of air conditioning. Would recommend though.
