Montra Skaga Hotel

A good hotel for what it was- short stop between places. It was clean, breakfast was good-and at the price- a great value.

I wished I would stay here little longer. I will visit again in case we pass by the city next time.

Friendly reception with fast check in. Excellent food at supper and the complimentary breakfast had lots of delicious options. Highly recommend this hotel. Our room was spacious.

We came from Larvik and it was too late to continue the journey. There was no problem with the check-in and overall we found the room in a clean condition. The building has seen better days, and could probably do with some mayor refurbishment soon. Our room was extremely spacious with plenty of storage space. One nit-pick: the TV is placed in strange place where it cannot really be seen from either the bed or the sofa. The bathroom was a bit of a experience. First it was spacious with plenty of area to place items. However, there were two strange things: first, there is no shower door or curtain (one has to be careful not to spray water in the bathroom). Second, during the first 5-10 minutes of taking a shower the bathroom smells of sewage. The smell disappears after some time. Otherwise, it was a good shower. Breakfast was good, with plenty of choice. The only item we missed was the famous Danish rye bread. The coffee was good. There was a decent amount of items for people with food intolerances.

Food and service were very good. Spacious room with sitting area and a desk. Comfortable bed. Short taxi ride (or 30 minute wald from the Smyril ferry terminal. Train station is very close (3 minute walk)

Excellent place to stop over when touring the country. Also, I great spot to stay before getting the ferry to Norway.

First, instead of a welcome, staff appeared inconvenienced by our arrival. Then being met with the most dinged and scratched up door to our room certainly left a first impression, where the creepy vibes continued as we struggled for the next 15 minutes just trying to get the door to close and lock! Upon entering the room, a glimmer of hope arose as I saw the ONLY 2 things this hotel had going for it (besides the obvious proximity to the ferry terminal).....the room was a decent size and the patio door with easy access to the outside for our pups. Unfortunately, that hope was shattered when I opened the bathroom door and almost hurled as I was overcome with the most nauseating smell....think 80's perming solution/salon mixed with sewage. To boot, this horror bathroom was situated directly next to the bed. So over the next 12 hours we did our best to hold our bladders and our breath, avoided showering, tried to get what sleep we could in a bed with foam toppers that kept slipping around while sweating our behinds off in a room that felt like a sauna, and tried to look forward to the breakfast buffet. Shocker....it was no better than what I'd imagine jail food to be. Out of our nearly 3 weeks spent in Scandinavia, it was by far the worst. For the price we paid, I'd hoped the hotel would have redeemed itself even slightly with a decent meal but dissapointment was a common theme. So with full bladders, scarred noses, sore backs and half-full stomachs we HAPPILY bid farewell!

Property was close to the port so quick easy access and only 15 min walk into town.

It's a good place to stay for a short trip.

Served a purpose. Nothing special. Staff were lovely. Menu did not appeal, so didn’t eat. Breakfast was ok.

It was quite warm when we stayed there and there was no air conditioning and the ventilation was poor. Neighbors kept taking our chairs from outside and moving them several rooms down.

Conference-style hotel on w edge of town but a great location for a stopover before/after the ferry to Norway. Spacious Business room with good seating, comfy beds, nice bathroom. Buffet breakfast was outstanding in choice and quality, although a second coffee machine would have reduced wait times. Highly recommended
