This lovely hotel was a little hard to find, down a single lane road, but it was an oasis when we got there. It was after 2, and luncheon service had ended, but the kitchen arranged a charcuterie plate for us. We had a nice room with a view of the lake. The bed was pretty soft. We enjoyed our day trips out from the hotel and appreciated the front desk staff asking after my health (I had been ill). Breakfast was good but not as expansive as some hotels where we stayed in Europe. Kudos to the staff, who were all very eager to please.

Checked out at 11. Sat in the common areas for 10 minutes to appreciate the nice decor, but as soon as peeked in to the restaurant, were seen to the door by the hotel manager, telling us to leave as they were closed. It was a grotesque situation. Unwelcoming attitude. Unapologetic. Won’t be coming back.

We did not receive a very warm neither friendly welcome which was quite surprisingly as I only heard good things about the hotel. I asked for a bathrope sunday morning, as i wanted to take a swim in the ocean. But they charged app 100 dkk for each unit we needed as a bathrope was not “included” in our room. I think this is ridiclous for a hotel with 32 rooms that states themself as a luxury hotel. And for which i paid app. 1400 dkk for 1 night.

Stella Maris Hotel de Luxe is a wonderful place. We stayed during the quiet season and found the hotel to be quite a serene enviornment. The room was spacious, luxurious, extremely clean, and had a balcony overlooking the garden that stretched out to the sea. We enjoyed both dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and found both meal to be very enjoyable and delicious, with attentive and friendly service. This is one place that I cannot wait to return to.

A beautiful location overlooking the water, spectacular and quiet. Room was lovely and comfortable, breakfast served at the table was incredible and the staff extremely helpful. I could not recommend Stella Maris enough. I would certainly like to return for a relaxing couple of days.

We decided to stay in Svendborg after spending a weekend on Aero, rather than heading all the way back to Copenhagen on the train after the ferry ride. This had seemed like a very special place when I was doing my research online, and it certainly was. Our room was beautiful and we had an amazing dinner in the restaurant there. The strange thing was that we were the only guests in this large hotel. The receptionist told us that they are completely booked for weekend weddings and conferences. On this particular Sunday in May, it just happened that we were the only people staying. As a result, we were asked what time we wanted breakfast, and had a beautiful meal laid out just for us. We felt very pampered. We arrived in the afternoon and wanted to do some exploring. They have several printed little cards with a variety of possible walks in the area around the hotel, and this was a nice way to pass the time.

I was in Svendborg on a work assignment. The bed was extrememely comfortable and overall the hotel was very nice indeed. However it fell short of expectation in the following areas: the desk was a little narrow and had no overhead light above the desk so you could not make the room bright enough for working. The wifi was poor in that it would constantly lose connection every 10 mins (I was using a MacBook). All in all I think it is more suited to leisure but this could easily be looked at by the hotel management - practical functionality is important for people on business trips.

We stayed just 2 nights here for a relaxing time between two business meetings. The location is beautiful and it is worth paying that little bit extra for a sea view. The décor is charming and the staff extremely helpful. We had dinner in the hotel restaurant on both nights, the menu is limited but well thought out and as we do not eat meat o the second night they provided a special option for us.
