What Guests Say About Their Stay

For a budget hotel, the Ibis is a cut above. The rooms are not large but the beds are extremely comfy. The shower cubicle is large with plenty hot water. The room is spotless and as a sufferer of an allergy to dust mites, I can state that I did not encounter any problems. The TV worked well with a wide range of Freeview channels. This has improved from before.

Great location near old town and rail station! Very friendly and helpful staff. Clean and functional room. Only negative was that the room was very warm and the temperature control didn’t seem to be working. I wasn’t there during the day so I just opened the window to let in Cool air for the night.

The hotel is very well located for the city centre and very cheap car park. The only criticism is that the room doors bang loudly when they are closed so you hear a lot of banging doors.

Was disappointed with my stay overall. The staff member who checked me in was lovely however when I got to the room it was very hot and smelt old and fusty. Had to open the window and leave it open the entire time I was staying in the room to try and cool the room and not smell. Room was clean enough but the decor was tired and needed a lick of paint

Absolutely vile and not fit for a hotel! First time in my whole life I have ever walked out of a ‘hotel’ We walked in went to our room and husband had a panic attack. Snot and body fluids on walls sheets all marked. Urine or sweat stains all over mattress protector. It stunk to high heavens and was disgustingly. We had also prepaid for breakfast which they have refused to refund us. We then had to walk about hill looking for another hotel and were out of pocket. Please do not book and beware as hotel told us our refund lay with Expedia however Expedia told us it lay with the hotel. So we have unable to get our money back from both the hotel and Expedia and couldn’t even get a refund on the next day breakfast. So avoid at all costs. We ended up staying at the Hilton next to train station which was a million times better but please do not waste your money here or risk your health. Avoid at all costs

Checked in for 1night as we travelled to attend a family funeral, upon entering the room the curtain was shut and the smell of mould of very overpowering. Opened the curtain to be greeted with alot of black mould all over the window the curtain and underneath the table, i spoke to staff on reception about this as my partner has chronic asthma and they moved us rooms very helpful. We moved rooms and went straight out to eat as we had been travelling all day, we went back to the room later on to notice this room also had mould in a broken window lock and a broken table, body hair left in shower! Spoke to the main desk again and they offered us a new ropm it was 11.30pm and we had to be up crack of dawn for a funeral! I saod no the room will do for 1 night as we were so tired, during the night it was so noisy people shouting. Spoke with the manager the next morning and was given a full refund as 2 rooms were disgusting. Staff were helpful but hotel is outdated and mouldy, pictures do not match reality it was like a place they house ex cons!

The staff were cheerful and helpful. Breakfast was good, as were the sandwiches we had the night before. It is a cheap hotel so you could forgive some maintenance issues such as some bubbling of paint. However, the desk in our room had had the edging damaged along over a metre of the front. This exposed the chipboard it was made from and so there was a risk of splinters. We would, however, stay here again.
