Great location, lobby was very nice and had lots of sesting. The bar has great deals for students and we saved a lot of money eating and drinking here, plus it was yummy. Room was big and clean and the TV worked well. Gym was small but it was perfect for me to do a quick workout. Breakfast was good as well and had tons of options!

Within walking distance to most attractions. Class wee hotel! It is very quirky, and there isn’t any storage in the rooms (shelves, drawers, wardrobe!) so you need to live out of your case or travel light! Hotel is also cashless, which I seen a couple of people being caught out with. Beds are comfy, room was warm, but the window is huge and opens. Water pressure in the shower was good too. We had clean towels each day and the brekky was good - word of warning for allergy sufferers - there’s a lot of shared serving spoons/tongs for cereals and breads etc. some of the cereals and granolas had nuts! We had a great stay, and this is my second time visiting. Would come back again no problem at all.

Room & shower both very good. No wardrobe or drawers but there are pegs & hangers for clothes. Bed was very comfortable. Staff very friendly & thank you for the message on the mirror for our anniversary ! Location of the hotel is very good. Approx 20 min walk from train station but you can take a local bus (9), get off at Peasholm & hotel is over the road. Five minute walk to The Shambles & ten minutes to Minster. Lots of places nearby for food & drink including a Coop and an M& S for any juice, snacks for the room or picnic items for days out. We didnt do breakfast but had one evening meal in hotel. You order at the bar & collect food when ready. Food was tasty & well priced. Hotel seems more aimed at younger people or families with board and video games available in foyer ( snooker & fusbol as well) but even though we are older, we enjoyed the stay and were made to feel very welcome 😊 There is also a gym - we didnt use that. You are so close to the main town but far enough away to not have any outside noise late at night. We would happily stay again if in York

We always stay at Moxy when we visit York. The location is ideal and a very decent price. Bed is always comfy, never had an issue with towels or noise. Only slight issue we had on this visit was the room getting absolutely boiling in the night, so we had to open the window which then resulted in some early wake ups when loud trucks/lorries went past. Aside from that, the free drink and late check out are lovely touches and staff always really pleasant. Will definitely visit again.

staff were very friendly, the location was perfect and felt safe, and we liked the overall style of the hotel. However, the room we stayed in was not as impressive as it looked in the photos and felt quite basic.Considering that this is part of the Marriott group, we were surprised that there were no cotton pads in the bathroom, and slippers were also not available when we asked. These are very simple and basic amenities that we expected to find.Another issue was that there was no telephone in the room. This meant that even for something small, like asking for cotton pads, we would have had to go down four floors to reception. Because of this, we often didn’t bother asking. We also couldn’t notice whether there was an emergency button in the room, which was disappointing from both a practical and safety perspective. The duvet cover was torn, and the end of the duvet was sticking out because the opening was not properly closed. Seeing a torn duvet cover in the morning was disappointing and did not meet the standards we expected.Breakfast was also not great. The croissants and pancakes were not fresh. We arrived late, which was our fault, but the way the food was cleared away very quickly while we were still taking items was not pleasant.Overall, it felt like the hotel was trying to save on basic amenities and staff, which affected the service quality. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this hotel or stay here again.
