The room was very good but there were a few unforeseen issues. The Manager was excellent. She did everything the could to resolve the issues and look after us - hence the overall excellent rating. Thank you.

This is my favourite hotel. Full of character, a stones throw from the beach and the town. The most helpful, friendly staff. I especially love their breakfast, which as a dairy free vegetarian there is always plenty of options. I always choose to stay at the Royal Beacon when I’m breaking a long journey from Cornwall to up country. Amazing value for money.

Great view from the room over the bay.breakfast was good and staff friendly. The hotel is "ageing" so you can expect little issues however i was absolutely disgusted to find pubic hairs in and outside the bath, broken metal shower (dripped) and the back of toilet was leaking. Ive actually taken photos ( timed) if disputed. On leaving i mentioned it receptionist said she would make a note.she also asked for my breakfast payment .....id actually paid cash on check in the night before which concerned me made me feel uneasy tbh I was recommended this hotel by friends in exeter ....they are disappointed. As i say staff friendly breakfast good view fantastic bed comfortable. Bathroom let the whole experience down ....

Lovely friendly small hotel. Right in the town centre. Only a 5 minute walk to the beach. Slightly old fashioned and in need of an upgrade soon, however for the pice a bargain. Amazing views of the sea. Would definitely book again.

If you get it for the right price, it can be great value for money. I do believe it’s going to be converted to apartments so, the bar is not well stocked and nothings been refurbished for a long time! Breakfast was decent and we found the room comfortable. It’s also in a great location.

Nice newly refurbished courtyard room but let down by the bathroom with a broken shower door, part of the shower fell off and the sink tap was broken. A shame as the location was great but just somewhat tired.

Room was top of hotel overlooking a crumbling slated roof but it was the cheapest option and loud seagulls every morning sitting on the roof. The room was adaquate but bathroom only had tiled floor so shower went everywhere. Staff were good and polite and helpful, breakfast was fine and hot but also minimal varied selection. Parking was atrocious, with only 6 spaces ? at £10 per night because street parking was normally nose to tail, and full for 24 hours. Because I have a blue badge I parked on the double yellow lines one night and found a space 10 cars down the other ones. Close to front with a zig zag path down to beach from hotel front door basically. Fine for the money apart from parking problems.

No evening restaurant was a bit inconvenient The only real issue is there is only parking for about 7 cars which has to be prebooked and nothing tells you when booking on the site So we had to find on street parking some way away.

I liked the location of the hotel, perfect position for a short break to Exmouth. We were allocated a nice room which may have been recently refurbished, with a side view of the sea, everything was spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable. Too be fair the hotel was a little dated, but we had a great stay. Reception staff were nice, but breakfast was very different unfortunately. I guess the young waitress preferred to be somewhere else on a hot sunny bank holiday!
