What Guests Say About Their Stay

The thing that stands out on this stay was staff friendliness. Nothing was too much trouble. The location was perfect. So walkable to a ton of things, like the theater District where we saw the Phantom of the Opera. Tons of Shopping, restaurants and short walk to Buckingham Palace. Lots of construction this summer so walking is your best bet. But the bus stop is in front of hotel, so easy to get around. Great bar area. Make sure to say hi to Paul the doorman, loads of info on sights to see!

Great location. Really clean and comfortable. My own gripe was that despite check in being at 3pm we did not get our keys until 4pm and had to then ask for late check out to compensate:

We recently stayed at The Dilly for 7 nights and, unfortunately, it was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences we've had. We actually stayed here around 14 years ago and enjoyed it then, but it honestly feels as though very little has changed since. The location is outstanding—right in the heart of Piccadilly—and that's the only reason this review receives any positive rating. After a 24-hour flight from Australia, we arrived at 8:30am and were told we'd be contacted when our room was ready. We never heard anything and returned at 3:00 pm only to be told it had been ready. It was the lack of communication, not the lack of early check-in, that was disappointing. Room 901 felt like an attic with tiny windows, so we requested a move. Room 444 was larger but still tired, with worn furniture, stained carpets, a stale damp smell outside the lifts that carried into the room, a stained shower curtain, a toilet that regularly needed pumping to flush and a leaking fridge. Housekeeping was consistently poor, with dirty glasses and used cutlery left uncleaned throughout our stay. To make matters worse, the indoor pool was closed for maintenance in the middle of summer, and despite the hotel promoting ongoing refurbishment, it still feels dated and well below five-star standard. The staff were polite and did move us, but that couldn't make up for the overall experience. We would not stay here again and cannot recommend it. There are far better hotels in London at a similar price

This was my second stay at The Dilly. My first experience was absolutely amazing, from checking to check out. Unfortunately, this time was a different story. We were in room 220 this time and there was constantly noise throughout the night (recycling glasses?) - lucky we only stayed one night. The floor boards creaked every time we walked across the room and the table was full of stains and a line down the left side of the tv. The tv wouldn’t switch off (luckily we had only switched it on when we were getting ready for breakfast-it was still on when we checked out). We let these things slide because as I said, it was only for one night. We reserved breakfast, and the staff there were lovely and friendly (that’s why I’ve given more stars). The Dilly, iam afraid you have lost a what would have been a loyal customer for being so inconsistent. I will look else where next time.

Second time staying at The Dilly. The breakfast and the pool make it my go to hotel. It’s in a touristy neighborhood but that makes it very convenient and easy to get to. It is an older hotel which I think gives it character but some may prefer something more sleek or modern.

Very impressed with Guest Services who took the initiative to decorate our room in celebration of my wife’s birthday. Location was also perfect for us. However, rooms dated with threadbare carpet and old shower etc. Rooms were not provided with new toilet rolls fir sine reason when we arrived and not replenished. Only Decaf instant coffee although I request caffeinated a few times. They do have Nespresso but I di not drink that. Room Service and Front Desk were engaged all the time so I went to the Front Desk to order room service. Had a birthday Breakfast in the Terrace Restaurant with our daughters and it was very poor (burnt greasy bacon, burnt toast and beans with continental if you wanted) for £32 per person? There was also a pump noise in the room that came on every hour overnight. Service at the bar was poor, they took my order then I left after 20 mins as didn’t serve. Just making a record of issues as they can sort and I have stayed a number of times before any it was much better. Again though 10/10 for Guest Relations!

Upgraded to executive room and was underwhelmed. Where room was a good size it lacked style and decor was in need of improvement. There was work being carried out to renovation of room above which was not explained and disappointing considering the prices for 2 nights . I have requested a replaced iron and this was not replaced . The only plus I’d say is location . But room, very disappointed.

Our room was advertised as “superior”. It had a fake window so no real light. The entire room was painted dark teal I would imagine to make it look rich and opulent… this was not the outcome. It looked like a dungeon with worn carpet and furniture. On check in I was told the room was already paid which I asked them to check as I thought it was “pay at property”. I travel a lot so when he said it was def paid I thought nothing more of it. We added breakfast so paid for that for the 2 days (£100) and went on our way. We checked in Friday and Saturday afternoon I received a WhatsApp message from reception saying the room had not been paid and to come to reception at my earliest convenience. I was in a concert in Hyde park at the time. We returned to the hotel at 11:30pm and I went to get my cards from the safe so I could sort the bill. Our room keys had been locked and we couldn’t get into the room. My friend has severe mobility issues and couldn’t make it back to reception with me so had to sit on the floor in the hallway while I went down to get the key reactivated. The man at reception repeatedly said the bill needed paid even though I had said multiple times I needed to get into the safe to get my credit card to settle the bill. He eventually reactivated the key. When I came back to reception it took almost 40 minutes to sort out the bill as they kept trying to overcharge by fist £100 and then by £300. Horrendous service by what is supposed to be a 5 star hotel.

The hotel location is ideal and close to Piccadilly Circus tube. Staff all very friendly and breakfast is excellent. However, I felt the room we had, though spacious and clean, was average. The floor creaked badly and the bathroom was very dated. There was only one small sink, not a double, and only a small mirror shelf for storage. Products missing shampoo and body lotion. Also, no hairdryer. It felt basic not plush which I would have expected at this price point.

This was my second time in The Dilly and it was a comedown, first time we got a gift bag with goodies in, loaded mini bar, the bathroom shower worked and the hot water tap and we got a goodbye bag for the journey home. This time the experience was quite deflating, pool has been out of bounds for 2 days, no goodie bags, no stocked mini bar, shower trickled the water, you had to learn into the shower wall for the water to hit your body and the pressure was none existent ,and the hot water tap nothing come out on the sink. I would avoid family room 521

This hotel is claiming to be 5 stars on their website. The manager says the rooms are in the process of being renovating, meanwhile they are charging high rates for rooms that are old and quite disgusting. My room was also on the side of a nightclub that blared noise until 3am. The staff start banging doors at 8am repeatedly and don’t care. The carpet was stained and gross. Everything was scuffed and scraped. No water pressure in the shower. There are no plugs next to the bed. I had to unplug the lamp to plug in my phone and move the table to get to it. The A/C is old and noisy. And could be cleaned up with some paint. Their description is completely a lie of what you’ll get. The second room offered to me was just as bad and also down many stairs. I decided to check out after returning to find our room had not being serviced by 4:30pm the same day I complained to the manager.
