More about hotels in Nagoya

Your Complete Guide to Hotels in Nagoya

Nagoya, Japan's fourth-largest city, is a dynamic destination that perfectly blends traditional culture with modern innovation. Situated in the heart of the Chubu region on the Pacific coast of Honshu, Nagoya serves as a major transport hub between Tokyo and Osaka, making it an excellent base for exploring central Japan. The city is renowned for its magnificent castle, unique cuisine, cutting-edge manufacturing heritage, and warm hospitality. For Singapore travellers, Nagoya offers a compelling alternative to the more crowded tourist cities, with plenty of attractions, excellent shopping, and a distinctive culinary scene. Traveloka provides a wide selection of Nagoya hotels at competitive SGD prices, complete with instant confirmation and best price guarantee to make your booking experience seamless.

Best Areas to Stay in Nagoya

Meieki (Nagoya Station Area)

The area around JR Nagoya Station is the most convenient neighbourhood for travellers. It features towering skyscrapers, department stores, and the JR Central Towers complex with restaurants and shops. Staying near Nagoya Station gives you easy access to shinkansen connections, local subway lines, and airport shuttle buses. Hotels here range from business-class chains to upscale properties, with rates starting from approximately SGD 75 per night.

Sakae is Nagoya's main entertainment and shopping district, known for its vibrant nightlife, department stores, and the iconic Oasis 21 glass-roofed structure. Hotels in Sakae offer a lively atmosphere and excellent subway access, with mid-range options starting from around SGD 80 per night.

Nagoya Castle Area

Staying near Nagoya Castle places you in a quieter, more historically rich part of the city. The area features traditional gardens, museums, and a peaceful ambience. While there are fewer hotel options compared to Meieki or Sakae, the properties here tend to offer a more relaxed stay. Rates start from about SGD 70 per night for comfortable mid-range hotels.

Kanayama Area

Kanayama is a secondary transport hub south of the city centre, offering good value hotels and easy connections to Nagoya Station and Central Japan International Airport. This area is popular with budget-conscious travellers, with hotel rates starting from around SGD 55 per night.

Hotel Prices in Nagoya by Star Rating

Nagoya offers excellent value for money compared to Tokyo and Osaka. Budget hotels and hostels start from SGD 40 to SGD 70 per night, providing basic but clean accommodations. Three-star hotels range from SGD 70 to SGD 130 per night and typically include amenities like free breakfast, Wi-Fi, and central locations. Four-star hotels cost between SGD 130 and SGD 250 per night, offering spacious rooms, fitness centres, and on-site dining. Five-star luxury hotels start from SGD 250 and can go up to SGD 450 per night, featuring premium services, spa facilities, and fine dining restaurants. Spring, from late March to May, is one of the best times to visit, with cherry blossoms painting the city pink and pleasant temperatures around 15 to 22 degrees Celsius. Summer, from June to August, is hot and humid with temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius, similar to Singapore but with the added attraction of summer festivals and fireworks displays. Autumn, from September to November, brings beautiful foliage and comfortable temperatures, making it ideal for sightseeing. Winter, from December to February, is cold with temperatures sometimes dropping below zero, but the festive illuminations and fewer crowds make it an appealing time for a visit. The rainy season typically falls in June and early July. For Singapore travellers seeking pleasant weather and lower hotel rates, mid-April to May and October to November are the sweet spots.

The location was very near to JR Nagoya train station, we only needed to cross a road. JR station staff knew where the location of the hotel was, as the blue sign was visible from the station. The room was clean, amenities we could choose and pick ourselves, and there were 3 coin-operated laundromats. Everything was good.
