not sure if the property is old but the room just smelled like cigarettes and it made my allergies act up pretty badly while i was staying there. While the view was excellent but i didn't get to enjoyed it much as my allergies was in overdrive. As soon as i moved on to the next hotel, all was well again. I'm sorry, I wish i get to enjoy it more but i just didn't had a great experience here.

Very nice hotel, close to the sightseeing spots. Breakfast buffet was very good. Only problem was that you have to walk to the train station. The street was not well maintained for suitcase. Also, the staff didn’t show me clear direction from hotel.

The rooms are very outdated especially the bathrooms. The bathrooms had pink tiles and smelled like mold. It is not what we expected, the strong was so strong we had to keep the door closed. We requested to change room the next day, staff wasn’t too helpful. It looks much better in pictures, not what we expected.

We stayed at the tatami room with sea view. Staffs were polite. Room was spacious but I hated the tatami mats in the bedroom, it was old and tiny bits of the tatami was everywhere in the room that it got on our clothes and bed. I've stayed in many ryokans around Japan with tatami mats and not once did I experience one that was so poorly maintained. Toilet was old, a little too dark and cold during showering, amenities can be improved. The room was dusty too. Breakfast was moderate but repetitive. Will I stay here again? Probably not.

I have always known this particular hotel very well since my teens, and have always stayed here with my family during most of our overseas trips to Hokkaido for the past decade or so. Now, I've conquered it and stayed here alone. The room was comfortable and was just the way I remembered it, especially the surroundings of the entrance hall. The staff were very hospitable and one of them went as far as assisting me with my baggage to the cab when I checked out. Waking up to the views of the Sea of Japan was one of the most memorable aspects of my stay here. Otaru-chikko Station was also located nearby, which was convenient for me to access my railway day trips. When I checked out and informed them that I had baggage, they offered to get a cab for me to Otaru Station, which was a huge bonus. Whenever booking this hotel, remember the golden rule to always reserve a room facing the Sea of Japan. Thank you, Grand Park Otaru, for such a wonderful stay over the Christmas break! Whenever I do get the chance to come to Hokkaido again, I shall gladly come back!
