Located in a quaint spot just off Kyoto station, 8-15 mins walk depending on how fast you walk, you get to be in a quiet space. Room is clean, equipped with a collapsible pantry, microwave too! Best part is that the toilet’s equipped with an overhead heater, its a very nice touch. Warm and fuzzy after a hot bath.

The hotel staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. However, the hotel is quite dated and the decor is flat and tired. The hotel is close to Kyoto station - a 15 minute walk or so. Overall, I think other Stay Sakura hotels in Kyoto are nicer and so would probably choose to stay in a different Stay Sakura hotel in future.

Room was OK but the lack of staff at front counter makes it very inconvenient. On the booking confirmation it states that "The front desk is open daily from 4:00 PM - 9:00 PM. The check-in location differs from the property location. To check in, go to 8-4 Kitakarasumacho, Higashikujo, Minami Ward, Kyoto 601-8017" . So when we arrive at 8pm, we walk 10 min to the address above to check in and walked another 20 min to the hotel. Later we found out that you could actually also check in direct at the hotel between 4-9pm. The booking instructions are misleading!

The place was spacious and clean, bed is of good comfort and quality. Location is near Kyoto station, surrounded by restaurants and bars. Overall it is a great experience, however you have to meet the check-in timing from 4pm-9pm otherwise there will not be any receptionist to tend to you. We wanted to drop our luggage and go for a day tour, but because there is no receptionist at the desk we have to walk back all the way to Kyoto station to store our luggage in the lockers. So if you do not meet the check-in timing, please do not go to the hotel first, store your luggage at the station, there are plenty of lockers there so it is very convenient as well.

The location was great only 10-15 mins walk to the station. The building is brand new and you could still smell the newly installed wall paper and carpet. Room was small but very comfortable bed. It was nicely laid out. I had a bit of a problem with air conditioning as the remote was in Japanese and the guide book in room had information on different room model. The front desk staff was great in translating it for me. I think this facility is only the few ones that has front desk staffs in the evening, which was really helpful. We stayed there for 4 nights and thought the housekeeping would come on third night but they did not. It could have be more helpful if they had a small range and few more cook wares.

As there is no dedicated front desk 24/7, hotel should provide Whatsapp/Line/any business numbers able to receive wifi calls. Japan SIM cards do not offer tourists any local calls, so trying to reach the 24/7 call centre was a nightmare. Hotel was roomy and clean.
