This hotel was truly the highlight of our trip! My husband and I visited for our honeymoon and the staff went out of their way to upgrade us to the nicest suite in the hotel. This gesture was something we will never forget and made our trip beyond memorable. Special shout out to Nana, Aina, Mai and Yoshi for going the extra mile and making our experience that much more special and memorable. We will never forget this staff and the things they did to make us feel so special.

This may be the best hotel I've ever stayed at. The staff were amazing, the grounds were incredible! The private onsen was the highlight of my trip!

Absolutely beautiful hotel. What I love the most is the private onsen in the room. It's in a semi-open space (not in the room, but under a roof kind of in the back balcony). The private onsen refills itself, and temperature regulated. It was amazing. Beautiful scenery, excellent staff, exceptional breakfast.

Very beautiful hotel, staff was friendly, but wished they explained the amenities around the hotel. I had to figure it out myself by looking at other people’s reviews. Beverages at the mini bar fridge are not cold, wish it was colder, the drinks were lukewarm. I arrived earlier than check in time so decided to go to the cafe to grab a coffee, some staff said “no” and another said “yes, I can come in.” Super confusing and then it took forever for the waitress and the ordered coffee to arrive. The onsen in the room was amazing though.

The hot spring hot tub is the best part of the hotel! Overall hotel is fine- nothing special for the price but for the personal hot spring tub, which was amazing. Food was ok, service was as expected. It’s no where close to downtown Kyoto but so many amazing sights to see around the hotel. If you want quiet - this is the place.

Staff and service great! A little overpriced for the rooms and unless you can book the special rooms the pictures can be deceiving! We were definitely not wowed by our room! Onsens were okay but nothing to brag about! And you have to pay extra to use the onsens … dinner at restaurants was great quality but overpriced! The reviews all show it to be very luxurious but it’s just a normal hotel….staff was very helpful and accommodating but the area is quite boring!

Not a 5* Hotel. Outdated rooms, Terrible or nonexistent Facilities. Restaurant closes at 10pm. No bar opened. Personal unable to understand basic English. Everywhere else in Japan, hotel personnel speaks very good English , at least in 5* Hotels. They kept changing temperature in the suite from 25C to 19C so the room after returning from 34degrees summer heat outside felt like freezer. Stay somewhere else. It feels more like dead property with end near. Personal was trying, but without training and basic English is hard to help.

Beautiful hotel and grounds but too expensive for what it is. The location is great and the grounds are beautiful, like a classic Japanese garden. But the rooms are WAY too expensive for what they are, which is quite small. The grounds of the hotel, breakfast area, tea room etc. could not be more stunning but once you are in the room itself it is very small and ordinary, not particularly luxurious and not enough value for what we paid. It is located in a beautiful area on the outskirts of Kyoto however, right on the river. You can have coffee in the morning or tea/champagne/sake in their team room and watch the boats on the river. UNESCO heritage sites and the famous bamboo grove are both a short walk away.

Felt like valued guests in the property. Staff are available before the trip and during the trip for any requests, even if last minute.
