LOVED this hotel! I literally spent a day researching places to stay for our trip, and for Kyoto I settled on this one and glad I did. It was really nice from the rooms to the hotel staff to the complimentary sake in the evenings. It was also in a great location, right off of the shopping alley and close to everything. Walking distance without a doubt and the subway was right there. I would go back if I get the chance to get back to Japan.

We loved our stay at Tokyu Stay Kyoto Sakaiza. The location was really convenient for us and a perfect home base for our time in Kyoto. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We don't speak Japanese at all and they were very accommodating. Some spoke excellent English and others tried very hard to work with our language shortcomings -- even pulling out a tablet to translate!
The rooms and amenities were wonderful and we especially enjoyed the free coffee and sake every day. The washer/dryer in room was a big plus as well.
We had a terrific experience there and would highly recommend.

My wife and I stayed here for a week during cherry blossom season, and I don't think we could have picked a better property! For one, the major market was just outside the door to the hotel and many of the wonderful shrines we're just 10 minutes walk away. In some cases being near the main train station would be a priority but not in the case of Kyoto in my opinion. This is the better location for most siding in Kyoto and the station is an easy city bus ride away.
The staff here were ALL exceedingly wonderful and I've of our favorite features is that each room has it's own private washing machine made it easy to keep our traveling clothes fresh and clean! That was a wonderful plus for our stay!

Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Free coffee and sake daily. Clean facility. Washer/dryer in room definitely a time saver, but the dryer function doesn’t dry your clothes well. The full wash and dry cycle take 3-4 hours.

I’ve booked rooms at this hotel ever since they opened this location and have always enjoyed my stay. The location is so convenient (just outside of Kawaramachi station exit 9) and the staff are always very helpful. I will continue to stay here each time I visit Kyoto!

I really enjoyed my stay here. The location was great - it was off a tiny alley within 50 feet from Nishiki market, so shopping and dining options were endless. The hotel itself is not next to a street that allows cars so you have to be dropped off in the main street and walk a short distance to the hotel. There’s a lot of shops and restaurants in the primary street as well and very close to train stations. The hotel was very nice and modern. They had ice and water in the lobby to refill water bottles and they provide free coffee/hot cocoa/juice/soda and even give free sake shots in the afternoon. The only con was the small hotel room - much smaller than my other two hotels - but the bed was very comfortable. I’d definitely come back and pick this place again.

Had a very nice experience at this hotel. The staff were very friendly and accommodating (thank you again!). The room was clean, let in a lot of natural light, and felt quite a bit more spacious compared to the ones we stayed at in Tokyo. The hotel was conveniently located right on the edge of the main shopping area of Kyoto, and also within walking distance of the Gion district, where there are temples, shrines, great dining options, and more shopping galore. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone.

The hotel is at a good location, but the bathroom smelled. They offered a room change after they couldn’t fix the bathroom smell after the 1st night. We stayed as the smell was isolated. Unfortunately the room was very dusty, by 3rd and last night, my allergies had gotten really bad. I’d like to stay here again, but they need to fix the house keeping situation before I will give it another chance
