The noise! If you like blasting music; screaming, undisciplined children; and ignorant families who yell at each other from all over the property, then, between the direct neighbours partying all day (10:00 am to midnight) for three days straight and the ignorant guests yelling at each other from all over the property, as if it's their private estate, Villa Narmada is the place for you!
You'll also be content if you feel "security" means a wide open front lobby door at 1:30 am and the "guard" (the elderly grandfather of the owning family) fast asleep on the sofa, such that I just walked in and past him without waking him at all. (I mean, Mauritius is a very safe country. But, still, other places have gates and alert attendants.) The safe in my room was also an ancient relic, the instructions for which were impossible to understand. At least the closet had a lock and key.
Otherwise, sure, the furniture is second-hand, but, the cleaning staff do a dilligent job, everything worked, the pool was well maintained, and management was friendly.

No hot water for first 3 days of holiday. Staff were telling us when we should shower if we wanted hot water. Staff failed to realise my mother is a local Mauritian and when they were speaking about is in Creole my mother understood everything they were saying and she was shocked at how they were speaking about the customers who were staying at the facility. The sofas are all second hand ones that they buy and refurbish and the leather used is not fire retardant and the leather is just stapled onto the actual wooden sofa. Jacuzzi has not worked in years, yet they are busy building an extension to the apartments without even putting any effort into the premises they already have. Security working the front office was drunk every evening as well.

It is a good value for money. The great thing was that we were upgraded from room to apartment (balcony, kitchen and more space). Staff were very polite and communication was easy. Receptionist helped us with some tips, arranging the rent-a-car and transport from/to the airport. We were allowed to have a late check-out which we really appreciated.
The only negative thing was that surrounding streets didn’t have street lights so it was not very pleasant in the evening (not because of safety but simply unpleasant)

Well located to the Super U and other fast food outlets, ie. Debonairs, Steers, KFC, McDonalds, Fish Aways, Pizza Hut. The accommodation itself is neat, clean & well kept. The staff are extremely warm and also assisting with any request.

Booked a 2 bed apartment but had to take two separate rooms. No WiFi in my room, no air conditioning on arrival, safes were locked on arrival and never opened so had to strategically hide valuables, shower head kept falling down so had to hold the shower head, shower took a long time to get warm, no air conditioning in bathroom so very warm through day and night. Hardly saw staff on reception so unable to ask for help/maps etc.

Run by a family. We had a big appartment for 5 people including 3 kids with half board. Staff and family members were very friendly and helpful. Diner is served at sisters restaurant in Grand Bay. We got picked up for diner and dropped off afterwards.
The hotel has a nice big swimming pool. The hotel is close to shops where you can buy everything you need. You can walk to the beach in about 10-15 minutes.

On the downside, the bed was very hard, cold water showers until rectified after two complaints. Internet password was withheld like classified information, and manageress, Ruth, would insert the password on our devices herself. This was frustrating and annoying, to say the least. On the upside, the place is well situated, being only a short stroll to the Super U and other conveniences in Grand Bay.

Only 10 minutes walk to Grand Bay beach. 5 minutes walking to Restaurants and the Super U Store. For the price we got, it was better than expected and very good. The Receptionist is very friendly and eager to help. The room was clean and better than expected.

The staff were very friendly but they were havintage some maintenence issues. So we had a lot of leaking water.
We had alooked booked a 2 bed apartment but could not get this until the 2nd night of our stay due to it not being available because of leaking water.
Overall a break disappointing.
