Iberostar Selection Playa Mita - All Inclusive

I booked this hotel based on the reviews and the Iberostar brand, but it was honestly a big letdown. The room was cleaned well every day. Housekeeping did a great job and the room was always spotless. But everything else was disappointing. The buffet was the same every day, super bland and boring. The à la carte restaurants were terrible. I’ve stayed at many all-inclusives, and this was hands down the worst food I’ve ever had. The steakhouse served meat I couldn’t even chew, and the staff were rude. At the Japanese place, the sushi was hard and dry, and the teppanyaki was completely burnt. After that, I didn’t bother with any more restaurants and just stuck to the buffet, which didn’t help much. Room service was basically just food from the buffet. There’s only one pool and it was always packed. No bottled water in the room, so you have to go get water yourself. Towels were old, thin, and rough. They seriously need to be replaced. Entertainment and activities weren’t worth watching. Only good things were the beach taco bar and the ice cream by the pool. Ocean view from the room was nice. Some staff were friendly, but others were cold or rude. It really was hit or miss. This is not a 4.5-star resort. More like a 3.5 at best. I expected more from Iberostar. If you have other options, pay a bit more and stay somewhere else.

I requested double queens . Our beds were not queen size they were full size. There were crabs and spiders in our room every single day. Sliced my toe in the pool due to tiles missing on pool floor. The main pool was filthy with dead crabs, hair bundles; etc. inside it. I’d never stay here again. It was a nightmare The staff was friendly other than that this place is a 2 star resort at best

Iberostar Selection Hotel-Playa Mita is such a beautiful place. The staff is super friendly and courteous — it even made me want to speak a bit of Spanish! The beach is nice and warm, and the pool is amazing too. There are lots of fun activities! The vibe is so good and everything is really clean. I didn’t have any problems at all. The room was clean and super comfy. We’ll definitely be back soon!

Don’t let the resort staff scam you into using resort credits. We’ve been to plenty of resorts and this is the only one where I’ve felt the staff isn’t friendly or welcoming. Between the front desk, the concierge team, the servers in restaurants we didn’t have one friendly face.

5* to the STAFF!!! They were all GREAT!! 3* for the Room. Emily at the front desk was so sincere and kind, very accommodating and always willing to do whatever she could to make our stay wonderful! Gustavo at the main dining area was SUPERB!!! He understood family and was ALWAYS going way and beyond to make our mealtime special! His smile was inviting and genuine! Gustavo, we will never forget you and a HUGE THANK YOU for EVERYTHING!! YOU'RE THE BEST!! Fermin was EXCEPTIONAL! He was the water aerobics instructor who made every class wanting more! Who wants to exercise while on vacay but when you have an AMAZING, ENTHUSIASTIC, FUN, UPBEAT, MOTIVATING, ENERGETIC ALWAYS SMILING instructor who obviously loves his job, you're are drawn to him & want to workout! As much as we ate, my SIL & I were looking forward to working out w/only Fermin at 3:30pm daily! Fermin, THANK YOU FOR MAKING EXERCISE SO MUCH FUN!! We wish you were here in the states so we would be more motivated to workout!! lol NEVER STOP SMILIN!! JOEL (I think this was his name) was our Rumba instructor. Boy did he love his moves!! Being a woman, you wished you could move as well as him. He constantly made us laugh & wanted to learn the dance despite the heat and humidity! We had SO MUCH FUN!! My room smelled hideous, had mold in the sink, sensors kept turning off the lights, toilet was already clogged when I 1st arrived. Towels were rough and some looked & felt weathered. I would return for the STAFF but not the ROOM

Property has an amazing beach, extremely nice staff, the food was great and everything was so clean and taken care of. Entertainment wasn’t the best but they also had other options like live music in the lounge bar and the nightclub. Had an amazing experience, would definitely go back

I loved the staff. They all are amazing. I can't remember everyones name. But Ramon at the mexican restaurant was amazing taking care of my mother in law bday celebration. Also, chef Fabiola, Ale at the pool section!! Amazing service. The food and drinks were amazing. I think the resort needs to update their rooms. They look and feel old. I didn't like that my girlfriend wanted her mothers room to be decorated for her 80 bday. And when she asked for that service 3X she was todl ton speak to the concierge. And the concierges wanted her to listen to their hotel program. We told them we were not interested from the beginning. We felt too much pressure. Our group rented 5 rooms to come to cellebrate her bday and we dont think it was fair to be aksed to joing one of their meetings. Besides that we love the food, drinks, rsrauranys and bar staff and the ocean was beautiful.

We recently stayed at the Iberostar Playa Mita and had a wonderful experience overall. The standout features of this resort were the food, staff, and beach. Every meal we had — from the buffet to the specialty restaurants — was fresh, flavorful, and exceeded our expectations for an all-inclusive. The staff was consistently friendly, attentive, and genuinely committed to making our stay enjoyable. The beach is beautiful, clean, and peaceful, with plenty of loungers and smooth sand along with warm water. It’s a perfect spot to relax or take a sunset stroll. It’s worth noting that while the resort is well-maintained, it does feel a little past its prime in terms of décor and some of the furnishings. Overall, we had a fantastic stay.

We have been coming to Iberostar for the past 10 years. In between we tried other hotels with higher star ratings but we were disappointed and came back to Iberostar. We love their food, access to the beach, ground, everything.My only wish is that hotel rooms smell dump and has a distinct unpleasant smell. We just came back from our holiday there and the room smelled damp and strange. I am not sure about the reason. Rooms are cleaned daily and everything seems ok but the damp and humid cellar like smell was a bit disturbing. Other than that everything was awesome .
