Having stayed in one of the A frame units previously i anticipated that this what i had booked again. However i was told i was actually in the 'cottage'. This was a sleepout/low end air bnb at best, not to mention that it was on the other side of twizel in an urban street (not part of the motel complex and therefore not associated with all their facilities). There was nowhere to sit and eat (counter top or table). No milk, sugar, salt/pepper. A microwave with no bowls and utensils was the only cooking option. In fairness, milk was provided when i called. The cottage was not serviced during our stay. This was an extremely disappointing booking and i will not be repeating the experience again.

Weird front desk... Seemed it never exists... Picked keys from the room that was open & info at reception door showed my name, room number & where key is located! Checkout was even more interesting as everyone dropped keys in front of the reception door!

An affordable (non-camping) choice to base yourself for the Hooker Valley and surrounding hikes. The A-Frame rooms reminded me of school camps. Lots of timber and basic facilities. The room was clean and large and had everything you need. Great location, plenty of parking and the star gazing was incredible.

Breaking our journey from Dunedin to Christchurch with the idea we’d drive up to Mt Cook after check in. Had a few housekeeping issues which we brought to their attention, so hopefully they are resolved. Friendly helpful staff, comfy bed. Bathrooms need a bit of updating. Heating good.

The service was horrible. The soaps were not refilled before the new occupant arrived. The carpet was dirty. It was so cold since there is no heater. The town has few dining options.

Conveniently located near food and the main road to head out of Twizel. Appreciated the kitchenette with a kettle and refrigerator. Quiet and had what I needed. Wifi was very poor. Only briefly early morning was it ok and then it was so slow nothing would load.

The staff was friendly and helpful. The check in was very easy. It was a great location for our activities. We were not expecting anything special and that is what we got so we were fine with the stay over all. It is a cabin after all.

The motel itself looked as if it needed tlc. Gardens were untidy and unloved. The actual rooms were ok and a good size and clean. There was no hairdryer and no milk left for us, everywhere else we were left it. If i was booking from the street i would not have bothered. If they made effort and did the gardens the street apeal would be better.
