The hostel is in a beautiful area with plenty of opportunity for outside activities such as walking and there is water rafting available on site. The facilities are ideal for a quiet break with the opportunity to either use the self catering facilities or the limited hotel menu and bar. There is a good breakfast provided and I would definitely return when I am next in the area.

Hostel was clean but very basic. The kitchen facilities were nice, and also had a living room. The breakfast was a typical breakfast of Norway- and the couple running it were nice. Laundry was available free of cost, but FYI there is a washer and no dryer, as they use a dryer room instead. Not much in the direct area, rafting availability and good hikes within an hour. Gas station nearby had food/mini grocery, otherwise everything is in Otta.

Sjoa Hostell is a no frills hostel. Our room was very clean and comfortable and the location itself is off the main road in a beautiful setting. The main lodge was built in 1889 and kept very rustic. The Sjoa area caters to rafters. You will get lots of quiet, a pleasant breakfast and no TV. For us, it was perfect!

When we went to check in we were told the hotel was closed. We showed our documents and the man said it was his mistake and gave us a room. We were the only ones there. No restaurant or laundry facilities as noted on reservation. We went on Hotels.com and would have been able to books room for that night as well as the next!
