Excellent Location...But...
Being right across the street from the Clarke Quay MRT is fantastic, can't beat the location. The hotel is in...decent shape, but there are some things that are in need of improvement. Rooms were adequate, relatively clean. There are those little ants that get just about everywhere but I've seen them in restaurants too so I'm not sure I can blame the hotel for that. It's not infested, just noticeable once in a while. There was little to no hot water in the shower either. There's a sign saying that the heat is Solar Powered, but I didn't get any heat until I was just about to step out. Their hot water is in need of some attention. My main gripe with this hotel was the WIFI...it's non-existant. I was staying on a partial work trip so WIFI was very important for me, but I just couldn't connect. I work in IT so it wasn't a lack knowledge that prevented the connection, there was no connection. I tried thru my Mac / PC / iPhone and iPad...all failed. When I did connect, packet loss was huge and throughput was 1.5Mb/s at the best and .03Mb/s being the average...if it went thru at all! Considering you'll get faster internet speeds at most coffee shops, this was shockingly poor. If WIFI isn't an issue for you, this hotel is not bad. Another gripe is that if you get the breakfast option, you have to go to another hotel to get it. I'm glad I opted not to get that as there are plenty of food options across the street and in the area. So, I hope this review doesn't sound too negative, as the staff were very friendly and the rooms are ok, as with anything, there is always room for improvement....my 2 cents. :)

Basic - Good location
The location is excellent, the rooms are adequate. Not fancy, very basic, but all you need for a quick overnight or couple of day stay. If after a place to base or invite a friend too then not really the place

Great Location
Hotel is right across the street from Clark Quay MRT. There is a shopping center there with lots of restaurants including a Burger King and a Chili's. Rooms are small and remind me of a bargain hotel in Paris. They are poorly decorated and look really worn. Hot water is solar. The beds were like Chinese beds-hard. maybe a little softer. Our room on the 2nd floor never got any hot water so we asked about it and they moved us to the 4th floor and it was OK. Also street noise was better, but take your ear plugs. Air conditioning in one room worked OK, in the other it was pore. Kept going on and off and never got very cool. However the staff was great. They all spoke English and were always helpful and very accommodating. Breakfast was not included. I always carry instant coffee and we bought pastries here and there. Be real for high prices in Singapore, S$12 for pint of beer and S$15 for a hamburger. For cheaper food look in the basement of the shopping center across the street. Take taxis from cruise port or airport. Price for each is S$15 and is worth not dragging your luggage around. MRT is great for exploring the city. Bought a 3 day pass. So didn't have to worry abought getting around or buying a ticket for each ride.

Decent stay
Stayed there for 7 days. Decent hotel located in a convenient place in Clarke Quay, where the MTR is just across the road and walking distance to the pubs and clubs of both Clarke Quay and Boat Quay. The rooms are of decent size compared to Singapore standards but cleaned and maintained quite well, though no kitchen or ala-carte menu. The people at the reception are very cordial and extremely helpful. Nothing fancy about the place but I guess if your objective of a hotel is for a good night sleep, then this is one place you could check out and I wouldn't hesitate to book this again.

got to the Jayleen Clerk Quay late in the afternoon nobody at reception, had to call a number and waited 15 minutes for somebody to come over from the sister hotel, turns out our booking wasn't there so had to wait for them to sort out what was happening. Got transferred to the other hotel around the corner which turned out to be a better hotel, they did everything to help us out, and we did get a pleasant room. Breakfast was good and plenty of it very helpfull if you need anything. I would stay at the Jayleen 1918 before I would stay at the Jayleen Clerk Quay anytime
