A nice hotel close to the express bus station, in an area rather deserted, with love hotels. However, we've always felt safe and there were many stores and restaurants nearby. Rooms were basic and clean. Bed was hard, but this seemed to be the norm around Korea. Hotel was about 2-3 km from the traditional village, and you'd probably need to take a taxi there.

While the hotel isn't located in the nicest area of Jeonju (old/tired, but safe), it is right next to the three main bus stations and therefore always has a line of taxi cabs nearby to take you around town. Also within walking distance of the university (about 20 minutes) so there's plenty of cheap restaurants/bars nearby.

Stayed here for two nights to visit friends in Jeonju. It's less than a ten minute walk from the express bus station, less than a 5 minute walk from the regional bus station. Room is clean and big for the price. My only complaint is they still use keys attached to gigantic plastic blocks and you have to manually lock the door. I much prefer having a keycard so I don't have to check my key in and out.
