HG City Suites Barcelona

We had paid almost £417.00 for a 3-night stay from 12 -15 July. During our road trip to the airport, I began feeling unwell. My illness presentation became severe while at the airport, and for that reason, I agreed to the advice to seek medical attention and not to travel. A postponment request was placed with the accommodation to allow for rescheduling the date, but sadly, the request was denied. Losing all our 3 nights' payment without a concession is rather dispiriting and cruel...

Staff need be more simpatico and when the guest ask some question if did know , can find out . This very helpful.

This is one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in outside of North America. I'm very happy that I chose the HG City Suites for my stay in Barcelona. After I decided not to stay in the City Center I looked for a place outside of that area and after a lot of searching on Google Earth, chose Gracia and the HG City Suites and I'm glad I did. The rooms are spacious (bigger than many of the rooms in the City Center) and quiet and the kitchen area (with a microwave, fridge and range) was a real bonus! We were able to shop for food at an amazing market only a couple of blocks away and have a nice breakfast in the room every morning. The hotel is in a very nice and safe neighborhood with several small restaurants and cafes close by. And the hotel is only a couple of blocks from a subway line (L6 and L7) that can take you to Plaza Catalunya (2 stops) and many other places. The HG price was right, the location was very nice and the staff was great. I definitely recommend it.

Love the room. Staff performance can improve. Perhaps more hospitable?

Wonderful front desk employees who speak fluent English. We were visiting Spain for the first time. They answered many of our questions patiently! The little kitchenette was helpful. Grocery stores, restaurants and Metro (subway) station are in short walking distance. Safe and walkable neighborhood, not flooded with tourists but in convenient reach from attractions.

The property had good location, good dining options nearby, lovely shops

Easily connected with metro to access all of the sights of Barcelona. Staff were extremely professional and friendly throughout our stay. I'm so glad we found this hotel. We will definitely look to book with HG Suites again.

The hotel was very quite and clean, also the room space is big, it's close to the major attractions, basically working distance. And hotel staffs are very nice and professional! Besides, you have a super nice cafe just near the hotel front door

Good location for us but outside city centre. Room was fairly clean. Staff were pleasant, Would have been nice to have some paper towels for clean ups in the kitchenette, or a dishtowel. Beds and pillows were good.

Great location walking distance to a metro station and shops. Very secure, only downside is the noise from street, as many past guests have mentioned. Love the fact that the rooms are equipped with kitchen. Definitely will be back.

HG City Suites is really well located, receoption was very good and the room selected 30m2 was nice, clean and very well equipped. All started well. We booked for two nights, Unfortunately starting on Saturday and perhaps the room was on the wrong side of the hotel albeit on 6th floor. Firstly There is a tapas bar, La Esquina Tapas Bar that has tables outside and the noise was considerable until quite late, perhaps midnight. That would have been almost ok had it not been for the Otto Zutz club disco just around the corner. The noise, mainly from people stepping out into the street (no doubt to smoke) was excruciating and did not stop until about 5.30am. I am a fairly sound sleeper and managed to get a few hours sleep but my partner, who is not, did not sleep a wink. We did raise this to the very nice receptionist and she did try to reassure us that there would not be another event on the Sunday night but I checked their website and there was an event on the Sunday so we decided just to leave early on Sunday evening, not to face a repeat. Clearly this is out of the control of the hotel and I have great sympathy for them but guests do need to know. Unless something changes with the club (which is unlikely as it has been going since 1985) or only quiet rooms are offered on weekends, I would avoid booking on the weekend. Frankly, I would have no objection staying again but only if I knew the club was not opening that night.

The staff was extremely kind and Fontana is about 2 stops from most touristy attractions. There was noise audible from outside at night, but it wasn't that bad (in my opinion). I would stay there again, I'm very happy with our stay
