Stayed there for 5 days, the sheets were changed every day and the room was cleaned, super comfortable, the room was spacious, clean, had a balcony, a refrigerator, and a bathtub. The staff can speak English. Early check-in is possible but there is a charge, but you can leave your luggage at the reception if you arrive before check-in time. There is a 2000 Baht deposit that will be returned after check-out. There are lots of food around the hotel, near Pratunam Market, close to 2 Sevel. There is a comfortable and delicious massage place under the hotel! If you want to order an online taxi, it's easy because the road in front of the hotel is still passable by cars. Zand Morada is a really good hotel if you are coming to the Pattaya area. Beach front with a swimming pool at the resto area. Front office staff are very friendly and helpful. Food prices are not too expensive and they have many choices on the menu. The bed, OMG, is very comfortable, soft, and perfect for us and makes us want to sleep all day hahaa. The reception area is clean and has a really good smell when you are entering. Good for kids also because they have a kids club. The housekeeping team is doing a really good job to make up our room. Definitely, we will be back again next time.

More about hotels in Thailand

Best Areas to Stay in Thailand

Thailand’s allure is amplified by the distinct personalities of its cities and regions, each offering a unique travel experience that can profoundly shape your holiday. Choosing the right base is paramount, whether you’re seeking the frenetic energy of a capital city, the tranquil embrace of nature, or the sun-drenched shores of its famous coastlines. Understanding these differences will help you tailor your trip to perfectly match your desires, ensuring your time in the Land of Smiles is as fulfilling as possible.

Bangkok

Bangkok is a city that pulses with an undeniable energy, a captivating blend of the ancient and the ultra-modern. For Singaporean travellers, it offers a familiar yet thrilling urban adventure, packed with endless shopping opportunities, ornate temples, and a street food scene that is legendary. It’s a city best suited for those who thrive on activity, from young couples looking for vibrant nightlife and trendy cafes to families seeking cultural immersion and diverse entertainment, and even solo travellers who enjoy the ease of navigating a well-connected metropolis.

From Bangkok, iconic landmarks like the Grand Palace, Wat Arun, and Wat Pho are easily accessible, offering a glimpse into Thailand’s rich spiritual heritage. The city is also a shopper’s destination, with districts like Siam and Pratunam offering everything from high-end malls to bustling markets. Getting around is straightforward, with an efficient BTS Skytrain and MRT subway system connecting major areas, and numerous options to book attraction tickets for popular sights. The city is well-served by Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) and Don Mueang International Airport (DMK).

Phuket

Phuket, Thailand’s largest island, is synonymous with stunning beaches, turquoise waters, and a lively atmosphere that caters to a wide range of visitors. For Singaporeans, it represents a tropical escape that’s relatively easy to reach, offering a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure. It’s an ideal destination for families looking for safe swimming spots and water sports, couples seeking romantic sunsets and beachfront dining, and groups of friends drawn to the island’s vibrant nightlife and island-hopping opportunities.

Beyond its famous beaches like Patong, Kata, and Karon, Phuket offers cultural experiences in Phuket Town with its Sino-Portuguese architecture and vibrant street art. Island hopping tours to Phang Nga Bay or the Phi Phi Islands are a must-do, showcasing dramatic limestone karsts and pristine waters. The island is served by Phuket International Airport (HKT), with convenient transport links to hotels and popular areas. Many resorts and hotels here offer comprehensive facilities, making it easy to enjoy the island's beauty without venturing too far.

Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai, set in the mountainous north, offers a more relaxed and culturally rich experience compared to the bustling southern beaches or the capital. It’s a city that appeals to travellers seeking a deeper connection with Thai culture, renowned for its ancient temples, artisan crafts, and lush natural surroundings. This makes it particularly attractive for couples looking for a romantic and serene escape, solo travellers interested in cultural exploration and ethical elephant sanctuaries, and those who appreciate a slower pace of life amidst beautiful scenery.

The city is home to hundreds of temples, including the revered Doi Suthep perched on a mountainside, offering breathtaking views. The Old City, surrounded by a moat and ancient walls, is a hub of activity with vibrant night bazaars selling local handicrafts and delicious Northern Thai cuisine. Chiang Mai is also a gateway to adventure, with opportunities for trekking, visiting hill tribes, and exploring national parks. Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX) provides good connectivity, and local transport includes songthaews (red trucks) and Grab.

Hua Hin

Hua Hin, a coastal resort town on the Gulf of Thailand, offers a sophisticated yet relaxed seaside experience, making it a favourite for families and couples from Singapore. It’s known for its long, sandy beaches, royal heritage, and a more laid-back atmosphere than some of the more boisterous beach destinations. The town provides a comfortable escape, ideal for those seeking a tranquil beach holiday with good amenities, excellent seafood, and a touch of local charm without the overwhelming crowds.

Visitors can enjoy activities such as horseback riding on the beach, exploring the vibrant Hua Hin Night Market for local delicacies and souvenirs, or visiting the stunning Maruekhathaiyawan Palace. The surrounding area also boasts beautiful national parks like Sam Roi Yot, known for its caves and birdwatching opportunities. Hua Hin is accessible by train, bus, or a relatively short drive from Bangkok, making it a convenient destination for a shorter break or a longer, more leisurely stay by the sea.

Apartments & Serviced Residences in Thailand — Flexible Stays for Longer Trips

These accommodations often come with kitchen facilities, separate living areas, and hotel-like services, providing a comfortable and convenient home-away-from-home experience.

What to Eat and Where to Find It

Thailand's culinary landscape is a diverse mix woven with bold flavours, aromatic spices, and fresh ingredients, making it a significant draw for Singaporean food enthusiasts. The nation's signature dish, Pad Thai, is a perfect introduction, featuring stir-fried rice noodles with a delightful balance of sweet, sour, and savoury notes, often enhanced with shrimp, tofu, peanuts, and lime. Beyond this iconic noodle dish, the sheer variety of curries, soups, and salads showcases a depth of flavour that captivates the palate and offers a distinct culinary journey compared to what many Singaporeans are accustomed to.

Finding authentic Thai cuisine is an adventure in itself, with street food stalls and local markets being prime locations. In Bangkok, areas like Yaowarat (Chinatown) and the streets around Victory Monument are legendary for their diverse offerings. For Muslim travellers from Singapore, finding halal options is increasingly feasible, especially in areas with larger Muslim communities or in dedicated halal restaurants, though it’s always advisable to look for halal certification or inquire directly. Many establishments are becoming more aware of dietary needs, offering a wider range of choices.

The regional variations in Thai cuisine add another layer of discovery for travellers. Northern Thailand, for instance, is known for its milder, more herbaceous dishes like Khao Soi, a rich coconut curry noodle soup, and Sai Oua, a flavourful grilled pork sausage. Southern Thai food, influenced by its proximity to Malaysia and Indonesia, often features spicier curries and more seafood. This culinary diversity means that exploring different parts of Thailand is also a journey through distinct gastronomic traditions, offering a unique taste of each region.

When dining in Thailand, a few practical tips can enhance the experience for Singaporean visitors. Tipping is not mandatory but is appreciated for good service, with small change often left at casual eateries and a slightly larger amount at more upscale restaurants. Meal times are generally similar to Singapore, though street food is available at all hours. Don't be afraid to try new dishes; many vendors are happy to explain their offerings. Understanding basic Thai phrases for ordering can also be helpful and is often met with a warm reception.

Cultural Norms and Staying Safe in Thailand

Navigating local customs is key to a respectful and enjoyable trip to Thailand. One of the most important aspects of Thai etiquette is the concept of "saving face," which means avoiding public confrontation or causing embarrassment to others. This translates to maintaining a calm demeanour, even in frustrating situations, and refraining from loud or aggressive behaviour. Understanding the significance of the head as the most sacred part of the body and the feet as the lowest also guides interactions, influencing how you might point or step over things.

When visiting temples, such as the magnificent Wat Arun or the serene Wat Pho in Bangkok, adherence to dress codes is essential. Shoulders and knees must be covered, and it's customary to remove your shoes before entering temple buildings. Photography is usually permitted, but always be mindful of worshippers and avoid intrusive behaviour. At commercial attractions, while queueing culture might differ slightly from Singapore, politeness and patience are generally appreciated, and respecting personal space in crowded areas is always a good practice.

For practical safety, Singaporean travellers should be aware of their surroundings, particularly in crowded markets and tourist areas, to prevent petty theft. While Thailand is generally safe, keeping valuables secure and being cautious of unsolicited offers or scams is advisable. For transportation, ride-hailing apps like Grab are widely available and offer a convenient and transparent way to travel, alongside metered taxis. Familiarising yourself with common taxi scams, such as drivers refusing to use the meter, can help avoid unpleasant situations.

In case of emergencies, the general tourist police number in Thailand is 1155. For Singaporean citizens requiring consular assistance, the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore in Bangkok can be contacted. It's always prudent to have travel insurance that covers medical emergencies and unforeseen circumstances. Ensuring your passport has at least six months of validity beyond your intended stay is also a crucial pre-departure step for a smooth entry and exit.

Getting to Thailand and Getting Around

For Singaporean travellers, reaching Thailand is a straightforward affair, with numerous daily flights connecting Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) to major Thai cities like Bangkok and Phuket. Airlines such as Singapore Airlines, Scoot, and Thai Airways offer frequent services, with flight durations typically ranging from just under two hours to Bangkok to around two and a half hours to Phuket. Prices can vary significantly based on the season and how far in advance you book flight tickets, but competitive fares are often available, making it an accessible destination for short breaks.

Once in Thailand, intercity travel is well-supported by a variety of options. High-speed trains connect major cities like Bangkok to Chiang Mai and Hat Yai, offering a scenic way to travel, though journeys can be lengthy. Domestic flights are a quicker alternative for covering longer distances, with numerous carriers operating routes between popular destinations. For shorter distances or within cities, buses, minivans, and local transport like songthaews and tuk-tuks are common, providing flexible and often economical ways to get around.

The best time to visit Thailand from Singapore generally falls between November and February, during the cool and dry season, which offers pleasant temperatures and lower humidity. This period is considered peak season, especially around Christmas and New Year, leading to higher hotel prices and more crowds. The hot season runs from March to May, while the rainy season typically occurs from June to October, though rainfall is often in short, intense bursts rather than all-day downpours, and this period can offer lower prices and fewer tourists.

Before departing for Thailand, Singaporean travellers should prepare a few essentials. The local currency is the Thai Baht (THB), and exchange rates against the Singapore Dollar (SGD) are generally favourable, offering good value. While major credit cards are accepted in hotels and larger establishments, carrying some cash for markets and street vendors is recommended. Purchasing a local SIM card upon arrival is easy and affordable, providing convenient data access for navigation and communication. Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your stay.

Entry Requirements for Singaporean Citizens

Singaporean passport holders enjoy visa-free entry into Thailand for tourism purposes. This allows for a convenient and straightforward travel experience, eliminating the need for pre-application or visa fees for short stays. Typically, Singaporeans are granted entry for a period of up to 30 days when arriving by air, and often a similar duration when entering via land borders, though specific regulations can vary.

While no visa is required for short tourist trips, it is crucial to ensure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your intended date of departure from Thailand. Travellers may also be asked to show proof of onward travel, such as a return or onward flight ticket, and sufficient funds to cover your stay. It is always recommended to check the latest entry requirements with the Royal Thai Embassy in Singapore or the official Thai Immigration Bureau website before your trip, as regulations can be subject to change.

Having comprehensive travel insurance is highly recommended for all visitors to Thailand, including Singaporean citizens, to cover any unforeseen medical expenses or emergencies. While visa-free entry simplifies the process, staying informed about any updates to immigration policies ensures a smooth and hassle-free journey. For any specific queries or concerns regarding entry, contacting the Thai Embassy directly is the most reliable course of action.
