Not a bad place to be fair. Radiators need bleeding. 2 in room, one didn't work. Freezing outside but room was warm enough. Very organised and staff were good. Bar prices not out of the way. Would stay there again.

Never coming back. From check in it was a disappointment - having to pay for car parking on top of the room is insulting just as you get there. Also having checked in online i had to check in again when i got there. Theroom was small and difficult to get to with our luggage. Room was dirty - one of the mugs had lipstick marks on it, shower was filthy Pillows - so thin and no second pillows available. Window didnt really open so far too warm. Never again.

The room was very clean and the staff were friendly and efficient. The staff member working the bar until late on Saturday 10th Jan was brilliant! Fun friendly and polite!

Room was nice as got an upgrade. Hotel itself lovely and lots of interesting rooms and games like pool, darts, scrabble. Arrived to a customer arguing with the staff complaining he couldn't have dinner at his preferred time due to coach parties. The coach parties appear to take precedence over day to day guests and as we'd booked half board were disappointed that it was a buffet system and more disappointed that while we were fine that we have to be seated later after the coach parties had eaten, that there was not much food left. It was fine for the price we paid and I would stay there again but would book room only and eat out next time.

Cant check in until 3pm...Surely not all rooms, in a big hotel and in January get cleaned at 2.55pm? Some would have been available.

Room was very small and was only provided with 1 bath towel between 2 people. The way it’s listed on hotels.com implies that the health and leisure is included with the hotel, when it’s actually a building within the hotel separate, where you have to pay to get within, that is for anyone not just hotel guests. When we arrived at the spa we was told to go upstairs and then got sent back downstairs by the person upstairs. Never even got to go to the spa in the end

I love this hotel. 3rd time staying there and i hope it won't be the last. It exudes a grandeur and charm of a time gone by. Feels full of history. The staircase is magnificent. Excellent value for money.

The hotel looked fantastic. Unfortunately a large wedding party took over the entrance lobby and stairs for pictures just when everyone was booking in so a massive queue. Recommend an events manager to deconflict timings of main booking in guests. Later the bride used the main corridor to the restauarnt and bar for photos causing another large queue. If you are booking a stay be aware you will be charged for car parking inthe hotel car park even though you are a resident. Suggest increase the daily room rate and make resident parking free as it just angers guests. Add an extra person on reception at arounf 4pm when everyone is told to bookin. The queue was out of the entrance, not a great start. Finally if you advertise yourselves as a hotel and Spa it helps if the Spa is open for guests on a Sunday if they are staying for a weekend. No availability on the Saturday either despite the staff just sat chatting. Very poor look. A fantastic vista and beautiful old hotel with the stay spoiled by these issues. Hope the feedback help you to improve.

Not a 4 star hotel. Everything feels budget from the moment you arrive. Cheap tat in the entrance, all looked cluttered and mismatched. Asked to pay for car park and spa. We chose not to use the spa after reading reviews once checked in. Food was some of the worse we’ve eaten. Dinner - served watery packet soup. Cold cheap cod fillet. Vegetables that looked as though they’d been cooked for hours. The pudding was served with custard that you could see through. Breakfast was awful, cheap basic buffet food. Only white sliced cheap bread, we did ask for brown or granary and told they only serve white. Most of the Buffet serving trays were empty. We had asked if they would be restocked and told no as breakfast service was ending. This was 09:15am with Breakfasts advertised till 10:30am on a Sunday. The orange juice tasted like water. We left swiftly and headed to Buxton for Breakfast. Staff all very helpful but sadly this lovely historic building is being run on the cheap and it shows. To be in Buxton and have Harrogate water bottles in Hotel room it feels Elite hotels really are missing the opportunity to support local. Such a shame as the location is amazing.

A reasonable price. The small room is fine and is a lot cheaper. A very good choice at breakfast.

Unfortunately the first room we were allocated smelt of cigarettes, the receptionist was very apologetic and allocated us another room. This room had not been made up properly as there was only one towel and the tea and coffee had not been replaced. As there was no phone in the room I had to go all the way back down to reception to get towels. Staff were very friendly. The room was adequate but bathroom was very dated.

The staff were courteous and the room up to a good standard. The breakfast though was not up to standard- we arrived in the dining room at 9am and the hot breakfast buffet was virtually non existent and the coffee machine very poor. Also we felt the one man in the dining room had too much to do on his own

The room was basic but clean and tidy. The wardrobe was too small for a full length dress and the tv was fixed in a manner that meant it could not fully face the bed. The staff were friendly and the bar was reasonsbly priced. The Victorian building was very impressive. The worst part by far was the limited Dinner menu, Buffet or, Fish and Chips, Gammon and chips or Burger. This was at £30 a person. My starter of Ravioli( 5 pieces) was dry and tasteless, the fish and chips looked and tasted like a budget motorway service effort. Very disappointing. We skipped all further meals and ate at the Restaurants and pubs in the town.
