The hotel is very convenient for accessing the fortress, shops & restaurants. It is right across the street from the wall & very close to the gate without the long uphill walk. Staff were friendly and helpful. The bed was comfortable, room was very clean. The shower was a little small but fine & there was also a free standing tub. We would definitely stay there again.

Really nice hotel, very convenient location. The downside is breakfast, the amounts served are really poor (ham/cheese look more like nibbles), no good value for money in my view.

The room was beautiful. This was my favorite hotel in the area. Charming boutique hotel right outside the city walls. easy parking - which was a plus.

The window has only a thin curtain, so you can see both inside and outside.

This hotel is all about quality, quality of the staff, facilities and location. From the moment of our arrival the staff were fantastic and accomodating, allowing us to check in early so we could explore the medieval city without delay. Our room, number 9, was a little on the small side and located next to the spa which meant it got a little noisy at times and we did get wafts of a chlorine smell occasionally. However the quality of the room was good and the room serviced to a high standard. We didnt take the breakfast option instead opting to explore the local cafes and bakerys in the old town. The bar area was good and the staff even made a cocktail for us which wasnt on their list. We spent an afternoon down by the pool area which was quiet due to the time of year I guess, but the furnishings were high quality and the Jacuzzi was great. We loved the hotels location which gave us direct access to the medeval city and a 15 minute walk into Carcassonne city centre. We will go back.

Not quite the romantic break suggested by photos & description. Loud party in room next to ours (not in main building) and music in bar with loud base thumping. When we asked to change we were told it was even noisier in the main hotel. Seems they accept groups. Rooms by pool very dark creating a bit of a ‘dingy’ feel. Check your bill. Ours charged us for b’fast for all four days when we only had one. Great location but disappointed.

Carcasonne is a beautiful and memorable city unlike any other. Hotel du Chateau is an equally beautiful and memorable hotel. This hotel has it all: excellent staff and great service, a brilliant location just steps from the city, a secure and private car park, a pool and other amenities, and to top it all off, the breakfast was superb. Our stay at the Hotel du Chateau made our visit to Carcassone a pure pleasure.

Lovely small and quiet hotel, just a few steps outside the city walls of old Carcassonne. Easy to get to from the airport by bus. We didn't have, or need a car. Friendly staff. Bar is open all day for hot/cold drinks and snacks. Only minor criticism of the room was that there was no fridge although to be fair, the room was quite small and there was not really space for one.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful with the most wonderful setting and location. The staff are helpful, friendly and professional. The set menu breakfast is beautifully presented and plentiful. We stayed in the Deluxe garden/pool facing room. These rooms are quite small but have a lovely outdoor patio area. The lighting in the room isn't good enough and is extremely dark. The floor uplights are very blinding. The shower had a drain smell. The uplighting on the pathway up to the rooms is quite blinding and the steps are very easily missed. If these issues could be rectified it is definitely a very unique experience. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

The hotel is superbly situated three minutes walk from the main entrance to the castle and the departure point for the little train that takes you round below the ramparts for great views. We had a junior suite, which was spacious with attractive traditional decor. Breakfast was served as a set menu with minimal choice but was fresh, plentiful and tasty: good value. The hotel has no lift and staircases are narrow and twisting staircases but staff were pleased to help with luggage. Indeed, staff were pleasant and helpful with everything. There were nice touches like moist towels handed out on our return from a hot day out. The only downsides to our stay were a TV remote held together by cellotape that eventually stopped working, and a great-looking spa bath that did not work for bubbles. (Apparently not included in the room specification, but no information to say that. I only found out after filling the bath, getting in, and pressing the bubbles button to no effect) One point to note is that, while it did not affect our enjoyment of the stay, the hotel is notably smaller and the grounds less extensive than the impression given by website photos.

What an unexpected surprise. The hotel was at the foot of the old castle and also had spa services at a very reasonable price which we took advantage of. We arrived early and the grounds were a lovely place to grab a drink and a nibble to wait for our room. This was an unexpected gem.
