The only downside to the stay was the shower. It was almost impossible to regulate the temperature and never able to get anything other than a lukewarm shower. It needs replaced with a modern shower. The staff were excellent. Very friendly and helpful

Wonderful country setting on the River Tweed and right next door to the atmospheric abbey ruins. Good walks in the area. Nice for a romantic getaway. The breakfast rooms were traditionally elegant but the dining room lacked charm and ambience. The two should be reversed with a more upscale menu for dinner.

This hotel was deeply disappointing. You can see that the hotel was once very lovely, but it’s now poorly maintained. For example, the carpets in the entry hall and on the stairs look dirty and stained. In the dining room, the upholstery on many chairs is stained and the decorative braid is ripped and hanging off the chairs. In our room, the toilet was quite tricky to flush and no washcloths were provided. The bathroom light flickered constantly. The WiFi was very spotty: it worked ok on the ground floor, but was almost useless on the second floor. Another issue was the breakfast staff. When we came in for breakfast, some staff didn’t even look up from their phones or paperwork to greet us. They seemed unaware that greeting and seating guests is part of their role. When we went to breakfast this morning, one young man on staff simply looked at us and said “Same routine as yesterday, ok? Cheers” and then went back to looking at his paperwork. There were 3 staff at the desk outside the dining room, 2 of whom were scanning their phones and carrying on a private conversation. After we seated ourselves, we waited several minutes for someone to ask if we wanted coffee. When no one came by, I went out to the desk and found a pleasant young woman who said she’d bring us some. More time went by with no one appearing to take our order, so we gave up and got cold cereal and fruit. Given these issues, we can’t recommend this hotel.

This imposing hotel is in a great location, overlooking the River Tweed and Dryburgh Abbey ruins. Unfortunately, the first impressions don't last long. The room was in dire need of refurbishment, and the en-suite needed replacing. In the bathroom, the bath was stained and had several repairs to it. The shower rail was loose and felt like it was about to collapse into the bath. The toilet didn't flush very well. The shower pressure was very poor. The net curtain on the bathroom window was hanging off its rail. The bedroom looked very dated and the velvet headboard was dirty. At least the bed was comfortable! Breakfast was a disappointment. The vegetarian breakfast looked very average and was missing the advertised vegetarian haggis. The smoked salmon and scrambled egg was and made with one egg. Based on the room, I would say that this place is being run into the ground by its owners, with no investment in it for decades.

This property is excellent with one exemption.. The water pressure in the shower was very low. Showering took forever and hair washing was difficult. The grounds and staff were very polite and helpful.

A lovely old country house hotel in outstandingly beautiful countryside. Welcoming family friendly atmosphere, the decor us maybe a bit 80s but the staff are wonderful and you will be well fed and watered in their bistro and bar. Lots to do locally and a great location for a long weekend.

Dryburgh Abbey hotel was wonderful. Check-in was with a person which was nice to experience seeing as many places are now contactless. Our room and bathroom were clean and comfortable and the dining areas lovely.

Superb as always frequent re-visitor, beautiful location on banks of the Tweed an abundance of wildlife just from the bench overlooking the river. Food very good top marks to new chef. Stayed in suite 316 as always spot on … we like it that much we married here 10 years ago and that was a superb day as well.
