Lovely clean room. The staff were excellent. The breakfast was top notch plenty of it . The bar was excellent with various beers to choose from. A lovely beer garden and a car park which was a surprise.

Très charmante petite auberge et très bien situé pour visiter le centre de York. Nous avons pris l’appartement le plus grand étant une famille de 5 personnes et c’était très comfortable. Petit pub et terrasse sur place.

Room was very good. Position of the accommodation for central York and the Barbican in particular was excellent. Pub downstairs is good for a pint after night out and before bed. Even had tellies in the bar for the football. Staff invisible but available when needed which was good

Good location a 15 min walk into central York. Staff were awesome, friendly and helpful. The room with ensuite was clean and window was able to be opened and fan supplied as conditions were quite hot

The room was clean but the shower door was broken and the shower head didnt stay in place. Also the other room doors was very noisey when they shut

The place is a pub & it’s seen better days. Arrived on a Friday & it’s a drinking place for builders still in work gear. This reflects the standard throughout - the small dining room is a thoroughfare for an outside drinking & smoking area (garden) actuallly a fenced off section of the car park if you want a description - the breakfast is good if you want a full English but no other options really. The day / evening meals - don’t bother - go out somewhere. The room we had was comfortable but basic - if you want to impress someone this is not the place. The good thing it had a car park. We felt the walk into York centre was a bit too far

Food not served on Monday night, so contingency plans needed. Needed an extra blanket as the night was going down into single digits, but was told there are no extra blankets. A bit noisy with respect to pub clientele.

Really good value hotel. Very clean. The room was quite big and the bathroom appeared quite recently appointed. The only setback is that the single glazed window (which is period for this property) didn’t shield much of the noise from the road, and the lovely big 4 poster bed creaked a lot. I found wearing earplugs was really useful. But that’s because I am used to silence where I live. The hotel was only about 15 mins walk from the centre of town and you can take a shortcut along the riverside walk. The hotel car park is also free ( big bonus). I would definitely stay again.

A nice space to use as a base for visiting York. A short walk from the city centre - and a stone's throw from a walk along the river - it's a pleasant, comfortable stay. My room was basic but comfortable and had everything I needed. It was also very quiet despite being part of a pub.

Property was excellent value for money, a short walk outside York city centre. Room was more than adequate, clean and spacious with a comfortable bed. Breakfast was full English with possibly the largest piece of black pudding I've seen. The bar is well stocked and we ate there on our first night, food was good and reasonably priced. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Light Horseman and it will be top of our list for our next stop in the city.
