Pretty property very close to the center of everything, quiet, no huge amenities but the small lounging pool has a beautiful view! Our room under the pool deck could be a little loud at times due to machinery but overall we really enjoyed it and was fair for the price. Staff were a plus, available 24/7 and helped us book our taxi transport to the airport when we left. Would return!

The property lists no cancellation policy in Expedia. None. I did not intend to book this property and accidentally tapped on it. At this point a "no cancellations" policy was made visible. Calls to Expedia to explain the error in booking were met with assurances that they would "sort it out" but in the end they failed to do this. Management at this property was unresponsive and generally unhelpful and the lack on onsite parking was a deal breaker. Overall, I'd call this a scam that is all about fleecing people out of money. Apparently hanging onto an accidental charge they didn't deserve was more important than making a potential future client and neighbor happy. Not even a partial refund for nights more than 24 hours out was possible despite attempting to cancel within ten minutes of making the booking by accident. They will never get my booking or recommendation with that kind of attitude.

It was close to Oaxaca's centre yet just outside so the rate was great. The only issue I had is that the AC unit was blowing cold air all night directly to our bed, therefore, I got a cold. Other than that the Hotel is great.

The room we stayed in was modest but very comfortable. It was quiet (and surprisingly cool) at night and allowed for good sleep, which we desperately needed after some hectic and sleepless nights in CMDX. Staff was courteous and without prompt, honored our request to arrange a taxi back to the airport at the exact time we requested. The AC in the room worked wonders.

Nice location. The breakfast was great. Needs some updating but good for the price and convenient location. Staff was friendly.

Rooms are a bit small. Bathroom seemed like it might have had some black mold on the wall and has mild smell that never goes away. Hotel restaurant wasn't good. No complimentary coffee or tea for the room. Staff is nice. Location is great. Terrace jacuzzi is great, but closing access at 7pm is way too early for people who want to do all the sightseeing.

Beautiful place peaceful and short walk to Main Street

This was a decent stay. Staff were nice and the room was spacious. The walls and towels had minor stains on them, but nothing to complain about because I know the towels were clean. I didn’t use the restaurant on the property. Overall, it was a decent stay, but I don’t know that it was worth the price.

Hotel sin pretenciones pero con instalaciones acogedoras, limpias y con muy buena ubicación. El mirador con jacuzzi es un gran plus para pasar un rato relajante admirando la vista.

Hotel Casa del Sótano appears to be a well-regarded hotel in Oaxaca, praised for its excellent service, cleanliness, prime location, and charming Oaxacan character. While some minor issues like small bathrooms and hard bed, but nonetheless, the comfortable and convenient base for exploring Oaxaca indicates the reason I would stay there again.

I liked the fact that it was close to restaurants and shopping. The employees were very helpful and friendly. Room kept very clean. What I didn’t like was the location of the toilet bar. It was behind me instead of to the right or left of me. Hard to twist your body to get to the toilet paper. The room also didn’t have a bath or hand towel bar. It only had a hook.

Close enough to downtown but without the noise. It is small but has everything you need. Got 2 king rooms, one was great and the other was not. The ac did not work well in one. The drain smell was bad. A chair was very soiled and towels were bad. You get what you paid for. The workers were very nice, courteous and helpful.

Great location. Quiet. Safe area. Water provided daily. Good options for breakfast. Nice historic property. Room needs a safe. Towels need replacing. Showerhead needs replacing.

Good location with access to many great restaurants and close enough to the zocalo. Good AC and room darkness. Access to hotel controlled by magnetic lock and rooms vary between key card and key. Unfortunately no fridge or safe. Nice colonial hotel with central greenery. Towels need an upgrade. The door to access room is a colonial split door which is cool but does not provide privacy. We hung a dress on the inside of the door to correct. Bathroom is a bit small. Nice sitting areas throughout. Would stay again.
