This was my first stay at the Grand Cakra Hotel Malang on a business trip to Malang. Overall, I had a very good stay and was satisfied with my choice of hotel.
One of the hotel's main advantages is its strategic location. The hotel is right near the entrance to the Araya Housing complex and is surrounded by a variety of dining options and complete facilities. Nearby are Sushi Tei, Yoshinoya, Burger King, Starbucks, Super Indo, and various other culinary options, all within easy reach.
For guests who enjoy morning exercise, the area around the hotel is also very comfortable for walking or jogging. The environment is well-maintained, relatively quiet, and conducive to exercise before starting the day. Furthermore, the hotel is very close to several popular destinations, such as the Rustic Market Araya and the Binus Malang campus, which can be reached in about a 9-minute drive.
I found the room size just right, comfortable for both business and personal travel. Given the facilities provided, the room rate is very reasonable and offers good value. If I'm not mistaken, this hotel was formerly known as Horison Ultima, and I found the quality of the property and its location to still be among its main attractions.
As suggestions for improvement, there are two areas that I believe require attention from management. First, the Wi-Fi quality. During my stay on the 5th floor, the Wi-Fi connection frequently connected and disconnected, which was quite disruptive to my work activities. I don't know if this was a hotel-wide issue or just my room, but hopefully, it will be addressed in the future.
Second, the condition of the door handle. I had difficulty opening the door because the handle had to be slightly lifted or "pried" before the door would open.
