My room was on 2nd floor and had no lift.

Exceptionally clean, rooms perfect for short stay and for the money great value. It's an old building so you will get noise from other guests but nothing untoward. On site carpark, good coffee in the morning and a bacon roll included. What's not to like?

Very noisy. Could hear other guests snoring, talking, tv noises.

Parking area was well lit . Fresh coffee for breakfast help yourself bacon baps fruit juice all fine

The location is good and the staff are mostly lovely. Unfortunately, the rooms and property in general is incredibly outdated. Furniture was old and worn; the blinds didn't stay rolled up easily; and the lighting was dim giving the whole place a dull look. It was tidy and relatively clean, but when I walked around, my socks were dusty and a bit dirty afterwards. I had to clean the floor myself. Breakfast was a complete joke. Highly processed mini packet croissants; a few apples and oranges; a big tub of plain yoghurt; mini jams; tea and coffee and watered down juice. No cereal, no granola, nothing to have with the yogurt. No bread or toaster to at least have a very basic breakfast of toast. The juice and milk were in open jugs, so I saw small bits fall into the juice and didn't touch it. I ended up having to buy breakfast on pretty much all the days I stayed. Absolutely not worth the £250 for 4 days! Especially high price considering it's not peak season. Save your money or spend a bit more and stay elsewhere.

The location of abbey lodge was great, only a few minutes walk into town. Handy for restaurants and shopping. It was a short drive to get to the rural areas which we enjoyed walking. We booked a twin room which was much bigger than the doubles we saw. It was bang for your buck!

Very badic but a cheap overnight stay. Convenient for town but wouldnt have like to walk back alone once it was dark

No frills budget hotel. Clean, tidy, central with parking and helpful staff. Breakfast was bacon rolls, fruit, yogurt and pastries. Excellent value.

Staff very Freindly

Plus points were easy walking distance to station & town centre and plenty of car parking space. Hot water (even from cold tap!) Breakfast appalling - would be better just having a coffee machine and letting guests bring own breakfast. It's like old tired and stained student accommodation. But it's reasonable cost and you just about get what you pay for. Forget previous posts about great breakfasts they no longer do them due to costs.

Standard & good value for money, very convenient & walkable distance to town. However the extractor fan for the bathroom in our room was not working.

Basic breakfast options. No hairdyer in the room and I wasn't advised how to obtain one. Limited clothes storage in the room. Light coming past the blinds all night due to position of the room next to another building.

Bed comfy but didn’t realise there was no cooked breakfast now, we have stayed a number of times in the past and enjoyed the food.

Really poor, room was tiny with ta tiny tv propped up against the wall not even on a stand. Everything felt unclean, lampshade hanging off, blind had holes in it and bed not comfortable. The only good thing was how close it was to walk to town centre

Property was ok. Door was hard to open. The desk clerk was very helpful at check-in but her substitute was wearing headphones and always on the phone and speaking very loudly and we could hear him in our room which was about 20 feet from the check-in desk. The room smelled like someone just used the bathroom and that was not pleasant. Turning on the AC helped mitigate the smell.

Parking was good, property very run down. Bed clean comfortable. Shower hot. Room it self very basic and run down. No where to hang clothes. Quite dusty and dirty Reviews showed full breakfast for the price, only poor continental was provided. Very disappointing stay,

Stayed there 2 years ago, breakfast was excellent. This visit ended with a breakfast consisting of bread rolls and bacon ! What happened to the egg,sausages, black pudding and mushrooms etc, also no cereal. Will never stay there again !!

It was noisy, room next door kept making noise, I checked out at 3.30am because noise was so excessive. Hallway stinks of cigarette smoke. Smell comes into room.

We booked as a last minute stop point between London and Oxford. The check in was very easy - and conveniently at 2pm which worked really well with our timing. We had a room with 2 twin beds which was a decent size with a good size bathroom - which for the price we paid was value for money. Downside - no elevator - which is really inconvenient if you have a top floor room which we did. Carrying a large suitcase up the 3 flights of narrow stairs was not easy. Not something that can be remedied easily - just a heads up to anyone looking for a pleasant stop point. Breakfast was very simple, could put a little more effort to have cereal or toast options and individual yoghurts instead of a shared pot.

Good place to stay for night or two, it’s basic but nice, Tea coffee TV shower all good
