The George in Rye

We upgraded from a cosy room to a superior room. The room itself was lovely, though quite small and the bathroom had a roll top bath. The room was extremely clean and the decor was lovely. However, I would say that there was little space to put any of our things, little surface space in the bedroom and the bathroom. Our room was on the top floor; we were asked before arrival whether we had an problem with stairs, and there were quite a few levels to go up so be aware of this. I do have one gripe! There was a constant humming noise in our room, I expect coming from the extractor fan that was outside the bedroom window. We did put up with it but for anyone who likes silence, it would have drove you round the twist. There was a small radio on in our room when we arrived; so wondering if that was to disguise it. I assume this humming noise would have been heard in the rooms either side of us as well. We were in Room 20. Again, lovely room, was let down by the noise.

Excellent hotel - friendly staff, great atmosphere, restaurant fantastic. I travelled alone and recommend this hotel for solo travellers.

Helpful staff and great spot in the center of the. Each room is unique and beautiful. Worth paying for an upgraded room and the ones on the lower level can be loud.

We loved everything about our stay at The George in Rye Hotel. The service at the restaurant and reception was excellent and the quality of the food was outstanding. A special thank you to George, who kindly managed to arrange our food order even though the restaurant was extremely busy. His professionalism and helpful attitude made our experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommended — we will definitely return!

This is easily the best hotel in Rye, and, in my opinion, one of the best I have had the pleasure of staying at. Like many hotels the food was excellent, the service was excellent the rooms are beautifully decorated and the simple things like having a decent shower or bar are so well catered for. What sets this apart is the vibe of the place, you can feel the history, You can feel the culture that has been created in the team, who really understand customer service. From my first interaction with Harry on reception prior to booking, to checking in and right through every interaction I felt the ten were looking after my wife and I.

Lovely small, well-maintained hotel in the heart of medieval Rye. Comfy room, great bed. Nice staff. With shout out to Brendan who went the extra e to help return some valuable property we’d left in our room. Even walked the package to the postal office to send it on to us in London. Thanks! Great stay.

Highly recommend this hotel. You will not be disappointed. Its worth the slight inconvenience of having to park in one of the 3 or 4 nearby car parks which are run by bandits.

My daughter & I had a lovely one night stay here - it’s a beautiful property! Everything was spotlessly clean, the staff were friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. The rooms had everything we needed and everything was top quality. We would highly recommend a stay here.

Lovely cosy courtyard room. Great shower! Having a cafetière was a nice touch. Breakfast was of a high quality too.
