Hôtel Carré Vieux Port

Location is the only reason you would stay here. Tiny rooms, no amenities, no parking, no staff apart from front desk who are classically minimalist. Dirty, tired and not as advertised. I think Hotels.com need to do better at protecting how venues advertise

I already left a detailed review on the search platform everyone knows. In short, if you are put in room 514, you are in for a ride unless you don’t mind showering in the open bathroom, using a toilet that was installed in the dark, and being woken up in the middle of the night by electrical wires that are doing an amazing jackhammer impression. If you are put in any other room, you’ll probably have a lovely stay.

There was not much room to walk around the bed and very little shelf and hanging space, so could not unpack. There was very little room to maneuver to use the toilet and had to sit sideways! The hotel is very well situated in the Vieux Port with all the places we wanted to visit and eat at in walking distance. The hotel's breakfast buffet at extra charge was well worth it and excellent, and a good start to a day's sightseeing.

Close to everything you could need, friendly family run hotel, staff we’re a delight and very helpful xx rooms a little small due to the building but perfect for a short break, beds were extremely comfortable and the water was always hot xx can’t wait to return xx

Very friendly staff and great location.

Although the guest room was small, it was well-designed and made use of every cm. of space. The reception staff were friendly, helpful with our small requests, and our room was very clean. We loved the location close to the harbour and the easy walking distances to interesting historic sites in the area.

The hotel was well positioned in the old town. The staff were helpful, friendly and cheerful. An excellent choice of breakfast. Quiet room, comfortable beds. Metro nearby. Only a short walk to the harbour. Would recommend!

Excellent customer service, very friendly staff

Perfect location in the old port. Just a few steps from the metro station and several bus stops. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The internet was spotty. Locking the door using a physical key was a bit of a challenge at first. Hotel Carre Vieux Port was perfect for my short trip to Marseille.

I recently stayed at Hôtel Carré Vieux Port and overall had a pleasant experience. The bed was incredibly comfortable, providing a great night's sleep after a long day of exploring. However, the WiFi was quite disappointing, with slow speeds and frequent disconnections. Despite this inconvenience, the rest of the amenities and the friendly staff made up for it. I would still consider staying here again, as the location is perfect and the comfort of the bed outweighed the WiFi issues. Hopefully, the WiFi will be improved in the future.

The staff were lovely and very helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was ok. Expresso was more like filter coffee. One surprise: I was given the wrong information about taxi, but it was a younger staff member at the desk. The taxi she called for me added an 8 euro surcharge for Sunday and cost double what she said it would. Warning: the walls are very thin. I was woken at 3am when the neighbour returned to his room. The person made a lot of noise opening and closing their door, then there was banging around their room for about 20 minutes.

The hotel is lovely, clean and modern and just a short block from the pier. We arrived well before checkin time and the staff was very friendly and stored our luggage, so we could go out and explore for the afternoon. Close to all the action and markets but the quietest hotel I have ever stayed in. We will be back!

The staff, particularly Leah, were so friendly and helpful. The bathrooms that have a tub/shower can be awkward getting in and out in a tight space but we had plenty of quality linens, the beds were very comfortable, they had several English speaking news outlets and the location is perfect. One short block from the old port, restaurants everywhere and small upscale shops. Very good breakfast.

Our check in was fast and friendly. Room was a bit small but very doable. The breakfast was great which even had some salad items. Good selection of juices and coffees. Checkout also very friendly. We are returning in 3 nights. Good deal all around!

I like the contemporary decoration in the lobby. The receptionist was very welcoming and she spoke English which was very good for me. She answered all my questions. The room was comfortable and I slept well.

Stayed 2 nights awainting cruise. It had everything we needed.

Stayed 2 nights and our room is on 2nd floor. Booked it through expedia so check in is quick. Only had to deal with staff when leaving room key in and out. Pictures/reviews are deceiving for this property. Not worth the money and stay. Only good thing is steps away from the port but that is all you get with heavy tourist. The room we had (Superior double room) is so small. Bathroom door is hitting the bed when open. Very crammed. We are aware of small hotel rooms in Europe but this one is one of the worst. The hotel advertised with AC but they had it locked and controlled. They only switched on the air for a short time just to cool the room then it is off at night! After you shower the room gets so stuffy! Our room has windows but DO NOT OPEN IT! MOSQUITOS! We are up and hardly got any sleep during our stay. It is very loud and noisy. Yes you are on vacation but you still want to get some good sleep at night, you will be surrounded with noise all night through morning. Inside the hotel hallway/stairs the lights are motion sensor so it is off and dark. Again, seems all is controlled. There is nothing good about our stay here and experience, prob the first and last visit to Marseille. I don’t normally leave reviews but I feel I need to share our experience with this hotel. We don’t know why this hotel got good reviews. Please stay away and book a hotel farther from Vieux Port.

Great hotel for affordable price for such a gem of o location. Easy to get anyone we wanted to. Small room but really friendly staff
