Beautiful and peaceful spot with lots of birdlife in Klaustur. Easy parking and fast check-in. Stayed two nights. The room was nicely appointed but SO hot. No matter what we did (turned thermostat as low as it could go, then finally turned off the breaker) it was uncomfortably warm. We surmised that this was probably due to the grass roof retaining heat so something to be aware of for summer travellers. Every table at the breakfast buffet was talking about it in the morning (we counted 5 different tables of travellers commiserating). The bathroom was nice and modern - large shower, big modern sink (easy to fill water bottles), Soley bath products, but our towel warmer was out of order and it had a separate locked thermostat which was again so hot. The back area is perfect for a couple, with a two person wood bench and portable cushions found above the closet. Lush green field view with horses in the distance and various birds (oyster catchers, redshanks, snipes, arctic tern, gulls, redwings). Good selection at breakfast, did not make it to dinner but did go 3 min drive away to Kjarr and had a wonderful meal with front row view of the Systrafoss. Conveniently close to groceries, pharmacy, gas station, but still felt remote. Would not stay again in the summer but would consider in the winter.

Beautifully located individual cabins. Very spacious inside. The ones closer to the lake and reception/restaurant house are super quiet. Liked everything except a minor inconvenience. The water from the shower overflows into the tiny bathroom no matter how careful you are. When we asked for extra towels, we were told to come and get them. Nobody is at the reception past dinner time. Breakfast is very limited.
Overall, beautiful place lacking service level that would much the high price.

I was disappointed with my stay at Magma Hotel, especially considering the premium price. We were allocated a room with an accessible bathroom even though we did not request one. The shower had no door or proper barrier, causing water to flood much of the bathroom floor after every shower.
Light entered through the glass panel beside the entrance door, and the room could not be fully darkened in the summer.
The water view is quite far away and the experience was not as expected. The hotel enforces a strict 4:00 PM check-in policy. Breakfast was mediocre, with a fairly limited selection.

Beautiful location. Cabin is spacious facing a lake. Very beautiful. Heated floor, friendly staff. The onsite dinner is outstanding! Great place to see northern light. Unfortunately we did not see one during our stay. The only complaint is hot water in the shower only lasted about 10 minutes then ice cold. The breakfast is limited and dull.

This was our favorite hotel in Iceland. The views are spectacular and the cottages are just beautiful, great design, quality and spacious. The breakfast has definitely room for improvement, the dinner was not so great. (premium ingredients but lacking flavors). The personal was professional and friendly. Thank You for our stay.

The individual cabins look like monopoly houses from the outside, but the full wall of windows inside offers a fantastic view of the surrounding area. Inside are modern furnishings. The restaurant in the reception house offered a delicious dinner, and the buffet breakfast the next morning was great.

Delightful property with amazing views out onto lakes, Icelandic ponies and scenery.
Restaurant had great choices allowing guests to choose cheaper options or something a bit more special. I chose a bit more special and it was delicious and well presented.
Staff are friendly and kind. Would definitely recommend.
Our heated towel rail was marked out of order which was a bit disappointing so hope the hotel can get this fixed for next guest.
