This hotel is a great place to drive to after landing at the airport. The onsen and pool are the best we’ve found in Hokkaido. This is our second visit and we had breakfast this time. It had lots of choices, it was fresh and plentiful.

This hotel was a short walk from the bus station which made it very convenient. The hotel itself was a great place to stay. We loved everything about it. The breakfast buffet was amazing. We had the dinner buffet two nights in a row because the food was so good. We will definitely stay here again on future trips to the area.

Beautiful clean space and comfortable futon beds. Wasn’t expecting that fold out futons had timings, so had to DIY since we wanted to rest after checking in while the whole bed making service starts at 6 pm onwards only. Once all 4 beds are set up there’s no walking space… onsen, the main reason you are staying here, is great. Large spaces and pools, very relaxing!

It was a nice location next to Jigokudan Vally and a hikeable distance to nearby sites. A street of shops, restaurants and 7-Eleven next door was nice to have. The staff was friendly and the hotel itself clean. The onsen definitely has an older interior and feel but a variety of soaking pools. We chose the dinner and breakfast buffet option. The dinner buffet was a little disappointing but the breakfast buffet was great. I’ve just had a better dinner buffet experience at other onsens with selection and taste.

Staff were fantastic and could speak enough English for us to communicate. The resort is definitely family friendly with the arcade basement level and the pool. We used the free parking which is located offsite, but walking distance. Split your party up. Drop your bags off at the lobby and get checked in while whoever is driving goes to park. The onsen was amazing with so many different options. It was a little nerve wracking at first, because it’s so revealing, but I got somewhat used to it. It was lonely being the only female in my party, but also lovely to have some alone time too and be able to switch pools at will. The buffet breakfast was delicious and plentiful. On hindsight, I wish we’d reserved the in-room kaiseki dinner and gotten the full ryokan experience.

I have been other quite similar thermal resorts across Japan and this one was among the worst. Drink offering (only few items) in the onsens goes till 20:00, no ice cream, no other stuff that you can easily find after your onsen experience in other hotels. The staff, especially external staff (fortune teller) doesnt seem to care about its opening hours and leave hours earlier. A very big old building and that s about it.

Dai-ichi Takimotokan is a huge onsen resort and a great base for exploring Noboribetsu. The room was comfortable and reasonably sized, although the bathroom felt quite small. I suspect this is because most guests are expected to use the public baths instead. The onsen facilities were the highlight of the stay. There were multiple pools to choose from, including sulfur baths, salt baths, jet baths, as well as sauna and steam rooms. The dressing area was enormous. I visited both before and after dinner and never found it overly busy. The resort itself is like a small town, with souvenir shops, a mini mart, game rooms, restaurants, and plenty of facilities to keep guests occupied. Service was excellent. The front desk staff spoke fluent English and were very helpful in advising on bus schedules and nearby attractions. We arrived by train and took the bus from Noboribetsu Station to the onsen area (¥450 per person). As we arrived in the evening, we had a short uphill walk from the bus terminal to the hotel. There is a bus stop directly outside the hotel, although service ends in the late afternoon. The breakfast buffet was decent but unremarkable. Dinner was better, with unlimited snow crab legs, ikura, sashimi, cooked dishes, two types of rice, and two soups. The variety was impressive, though the overall quality was average and the crab seemed frozen and reheated. Overall, the excellent onsen facilities, extensive amenities, and helpful staff made the stay enjoyable,.

The hot springs were amazing. I was lucky enough to see wild deer while enjoying the outdoor bath, which made the experience even more special. There were so many facilities, including souvenir shops, a game center, karaoke bars, restaurants, and even indoor pools. We only stayed for one night, and honestly, it wasn’t enough time to fully enjoy everything this place had to offer.

Room: large and cleanliness is top notch. With a fairly large wardrobe containing a safe (password lock), different sizes of yukatas (bathrobes) and slippers (learner - for hotel indoor use; plastic flip-flops - for both indoor and outdoor use). Centralised air conditioning sometimes can be too hot, so you can ask for a circulator fan at the front desk. Staff: same as other places - sometimes can be more friendly when you speak Japanese; nothing more to ask for, really. Parking: despite the hotel owning a lot of parking spaces, during peak seasons it still can be very crowded but no worries, staff will guide you to the nearest public parking space which then can be used for free when presenting the parking coupon the staff gave you during check in.

This hotel truly felt like a five-star home. From the moment I arrived, the service was impeccable. Although the parking entrance is a bit tricky to find, the staff at the main entrance were incredibly helpful, guiding me to the designated lot and immediately assisting with my luggage. The check-in process was seamless and efficient. The Onsen Experience: Located in a renowned hot spring area, this hotel’s onsen facilities are second to none. They cater to everyone’s needs, including lower-temperature baths for those with high blood pressure, and both indoor and outdoor options. I was particularly impressed by the impeccable cleanliness—I didn’t see a single stray hair on the floor as staff were constantly cleaning. They also provide high-quality, complimentary toiletries and skincare products that were so good I ended up buying some at the hotel shop. Room & Comfort: I stayed in a Western-style room which was spotless and well-organized. The view of the snow-capped mountains from the window was breathtaking. It was a very restful stay, and I loved the convenience of being able to walk around the hotel comfortably in the provided yukata. Dining & Location: The breakfast buffet was incredible, with an extensive variety of exquisite dishes—there were so many options I couldn't even try them all! The location is also perfect, just a short walk to the famous Jigokudani (Hell Valley) and the local shopping street.

We like the swimming pool that we can attend. We enjoy swimming pool and slide while that was snowing outside. We lived in the new part of the hotel, which is a bit far away from most of the facility. But we prefer new part, so that is good for us. The reception staff are very nice to us. Especially while we compare to the man who lead us in when we drive in. He was impatient and he was a bit rude to my partner. I felt like is because I am a lady driver who did not speak in their language. The breakfast is a bit lower than our expectation. We hope that at least the food is warm enough to eat.

I had really enjoyed the Grand Baths. Although at first, I was very self conscious about being naked, as the time passed, I was more into the different baths itself. My favourite was the outdoor bath with the hot water and cold breeze. It was very refreshing.
