This hotel was very nice. Our room was comfortable and nicely appointed. My only comment here is that we had requested a river view. There is construction across the river so it wasn't the beautiful view I was expecting. Of course that is not the hotel's fault, but it is worth noting. The staff was wonderful! Very helpful. They have a shuttle to the beginning of the Hakone Loop, which was helpful. We enjoyed the onsen in the hotel, Great place to relax. The restaurant and bar were very good. We had an excellent dinner there. And had their buffet breakfast twice. I would recommend this hotel.

The food at the restaurant was amazing. We had 2 breakfasts, 1 lunch and 2 dinners there we liked it so much! The private Onsen was wonderful to soak in but the public unisex Onsen was fabulous— 3 different temperatures, one area with massage jets and another with submerged lounge chairs. Unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate and the Ropeway shut down so we saw none of the sights.

We had a disappointing stay overall. It was quite challenging to make a dinner reservation, and unfortunately, we regretted dining there. We were seated near families with young children, so the atmosphere was not as relaxing as we had hoped due to the constant noise and screaming. We would have appreciated being informed in advance that the dining area was very family-oriented so we could have decided whether it suited the experience we were looking for. The food was also quite expensive and ultimately underwhelming, as the flavors were lacking. The private onsen was more like a one-person bath on the balcony rather than a traditional private onsen experience, though it was enjoyable nonetheless. The room itself was clean, and the beds were comfortable. However, the in-room amenities and products were more limited than what we have experienced at less expensive hotels. Overall, no one asked about our experience or whether we had enjoyed our stay. There was also construction near the hotel, and we did not see any notice about the noise when booking. As a result, it would have been difficult to enjoy the outside bath during the day. For a hotel of this caliber and at this price point, we were quite disappointed and will not be returning to any Indigo Hotels in the future.

My room AC was not working. They offered another room but it was very late and my infant was asleep along with my pregnant wife. FYI This hotel is not a real five star hotel. You will not find this luxurious. The pictures are definitely deceiving.

Hotel Indigo Hakone Gora is a beautiful property that perfectly captures a relaxing getaway vibe, making it an ideal choice for couples seeking a peaceful retreat. The hotel’s design is stunning, featuring a lovely bar right in the lobby that serves as a great focal point for unwinding. One of the standout features is the outdoor seating area overlooking the river, which includes built-in foot baths.a thoughtful and incredibly relaxing touch that allows you to soak while enjoying the natural surroundings. Throughout the stay, the staff were very nice and accommodating, further enhancing the welcoming atmosphere. Guests can also enjoy a paid breakfast buffet that offers a great deal of variety. While the rooms are notably spacious, there are a few aspects regarding the room descriptions that felt a little misleading. Although the rooms are advertised as having a private onsen, the bath is essentially a regular soaking tub rather than a traditional mineral hot spring. Additionally, travelers should be aware that not all rooms provide the scenic river views often showcased during the booking process. In our case, the view from the bath faced the parking lot, which was a bit of a letdown as it required keeping the windows and blinds closed at all times for privacy. Although I didn't get to experience the public hot springs and cannot speak to those facilities, the overall quality of the hotel remains high. A great destination for those looking for a modern escape.

The room was ok... not incredibly spacious. Our room was also overlooking the parking lot and a construction zone, so that was strange. We really couldn't keep the blinds open. The room was advertised having an onsen, and really it was just a deep bath. For $800+ a night, we were expecting more. No coffee in the lobby in the morning (except if you were having the $40 breakfast). The people working there weren't as friendly and accommodating as we found throughout the rest of Japan. The bar area was nice and they offered a happy hour menu.
