Lagoon Gardens

The staff prepared a very generous daily breakfast overlooking the serene water. They were so lovely and accomodating and are always there for a chat or to help out. Surrounded by amazing greenery and close to the centre.

Friendly and welcoming place. Had a nice spacious room, good WiFi, good air conditioning, plenty of hot water, continental breakfast included, free use of kayak. Little out of the way but easy to reach by minibus and easy to get cheap transport into town and anywhere else. Only paid 150 vatu each for airport transfer as well as trip into town. Just wave town a minibus with license plate starting with B. Highly recommend this place for value for money, although Vanuatu itself can be quite expensive especially when it comes to eating out. Local beer is good and was 260 vatu per bottle in the supermarket. Good wine available starting at 800 vatu per 75cl bottle.

Breakfast was fabulous

We had a memorable stay at this Vanuatu accommodation, thanks largely to the exceptional hospitality of our hosts. From the moment we arrived, Morgan and Annie made us feel incredibly welcome—more like guests in a family home than visitors at a typical property. Their warmth, flexibility, and genuine care really stood out. Morgan, who has lived in Vanuatu for over 20 years, was a fantastic source of local knowledge. He shared some great stories and, together with Annie, provided invaluable advice on places to visit, where to eat, and how to get around affordably. Their recommendations truly enhanced our experience and helped us make the most of our trip. The accommodation itself is quite basic, and the buildings and grounds are a little tired in places, with ongoing repairs and improvements happening during our stay. However, this is reflected in the very reasonable pricing. When you consider the level of care, local insight, and support provided by Morgan and Annie, it represents excellent value for money. Overall, if you’re looking for a simple, authentic place to stay with outstanding hospitality and a genuine local experience, this is a great choice. Morgan and Annie go above and beyond to ensure guests feel comfortable and well looked after, making it a rewarding and worthwhile place to stay.

Simple but tasty fresh breakfast, could do with some firmer pillows

Lovely large bungalow, well equipped. Gorgeous breakfast area with stunning view of the lagoon. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. Excellent stay.

Amazing surroundings- it feels like sleeping in the botanical garden. Owner was very friendly and helpful with sharing tips. Breakfast was really delicious just above the lagoon.

It was disappointing. On my arrival the beddings had tiny ginger ants, on the floor, and everywhere. The sheets were not fresh, some sort of fluid mark was visible on the top sheet (the bed only had a top sheet. No blanket). One of the staff change the top sheet and sprayed the bed with mortein and on the bed head wall. I was not happy having the bed and near the pillows being sprayed with pesticide but I thought it was the only way to get rid of the ants. Also, you had to pay extra for the AC remote control to use the air-conditioning. After sitting in the room for couple of hours, the ants were still visible and I was getting bitten so I complained and asked for a refund and to shorten my stay to one night as I was booked for 3 nights. The staff were apologetic and they moved me to another room with no TV and Internet connection was only available in a corner of the room. Until now, a week since I've contacted Expedia to get my refund, Expedia and I haven't heard from the property owner/manager.

Cozy place with beautiful garden next to the lagoon. And, what is not always given in Vanuatu, a very nice breakfast served by friendly staff. Clean, quite, safe.

Superb “price performer” with a total family-friendly atmosphere❗Everyone cared and smiled. Excellent Wi-Fi connection. All the ladies were helpful. The view of the lagoon from my breakfast table was soooo relaxing. The location is in a unique setting. Quiet and private. I never took the time to lock my room. With Morgan’s (owner & Vanuatu resident for 29 years) lead, all the ladies were helpful.

We stayed 11 days at The Lagoon Garden Resort, and while the property is a little dated and could use some TLC, it truly grew on us. At first, we were a bit taken aback as we expected something more modern and convenient, and even considered relocating. But after settling in and experiencing the warm hospitality, we’re really glad we stayed. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the view over the lagoon is beautiful — peaceful mornings and stunning sunsets. While the facilities are older and not luxurious, the genuine friendliness of the staff and owners more than made up for it. Melcom (a Kiwi) and Ani, the owners, were incredibly welcoming and helpful, always going out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Their care and personal touch make this place feel like home away from home. If you’re looking for a high-end luxury resort, this might not be for you. But if you value authentic island hospitality, a relaxed atmosphere, and great value, this is an excellent choice. It’s a bit outside of Port Vila (30 -45 min walk), but local buses make it easy and cheap to get around. While this isn’t a luxury resort, it’s perfect for travellers looking for comfort, genuine hospitality, and great value. Plus, you can easily visit nearby luxury resorts for the day — most welcome outside guests if you buy food or drinks, so you can enjoy a touch of luxury without the high price tag.

The location of the Resort on the channel between No1 and No2 lagoons is just incredible. At the moment the Resort only has 6 rooms and is an Adult Only Resort and unfortunately it suffered some substantial damage from the Earthquake last year so the Owner is currently trying to build 3 more rooms along with carrying out repairs from the Quake but none of this impacted on our time there. From all my overseas travels over the last 40 years, this is the first time I have ever felt like a review was deserved. The view of the Lagoon from the Balconies of the 2 Lagoon View rooms is to die for and the sunsets across the water are spectacular
