The Hotel Windsor represents the stately luxury of old Melbourne, but it’s at the center of modern Melbourne still. We rented a suite, and it was the most luxurious hotel we’ve ever stayed in. Breakfast was fabulous – custom cooked from a menu of great options. The staff were excellent. As we were waiting for our taxi, the porter noticed we were a bit hot and brought us each a bottle of water.

Perfect spot for walking to NGV and Museum. Rooms clean and well appointed. Our one time effort for room service was disappointing as we waited more than an hour and a half and 3 calls, evidently there was an issue with our ordering by the phone rather than the internet ( which required you to sign in) even though we had the option. We found this frustrating. Overall our stay was excellent and the staff were all very respectful and helpful.

Beautiful character building, aging from the 1980s style refurbishment. Not enough staff to run efficiently. Concierge desk often unmanned (required for valet parking) and the amazing high tea is enough of a business income to preclude the requirement to run an evening dinner service in the restaurant. Limited room service menu has to suffice.

Hotel needs a serious update. The door on the room did not seal properly. Beds and linens were terrible. Lots of noise throughout the night. Could not warm up the room properly. The interior is old and drab.

Unfortunately this once prestige hotel is looking neglected & faded. Room service is down to a minimum (4pm-10pm) , no lunch or dinner available- only Cricketers’s bar menu. Breakfast is lack lustre - not a generous buffet, but set individual items. The entire hotel needs a good clean. Grubby curtains and windows, furniture needed a clean too ( cup stains on tables). Ineffective air con , with room too hot over night. Some good , attentive staff ( concierge very pleasant ) , wait staff not so good.

Very attentive staff. Great location, and ideal for walking. Close to theatres, high end shopping, and dining options. The famous hotel is in need of redecorating and a thorough cleaning, which could start with the lobby chandeliers and leather furniture. The outside of the property had several areas where the paint has chipped off. They lost our dry cleaning, came to our room to search for the lost clothes, leaving us sense that they believed we had lied about it not being returned. Seemed to us that if the hotel sends 20 articles out to the cleaners someone on staff should verify 20 articles are returned, then ensure each room that is to have articles returned are checked off upon returning them to each room. However, four days later they found the clothes in their housekeeping department, despite claiming to have conducted an exhaustive search.Not as much as a 'sorry' was foethcoming. We were disappointed that we blloked this "5-star" property when there are several nearby hotels that more closely resemble what travelers expect when booking a 5-star hotel. We do not recommend

Fine stay but the room was old and small, in need of a good renovation. Shower over the bath was a downside. But it was everything I expected from this hotel and the price paid. The location is good though. Close to everything at the top end of town.

Staying at the Windsor was like going back in time to a glorious Victorian era. The hotel has well maaintained with a lot a original features. Breakfast in the dining room is a must. Location was second to none. Staff were polite and helpful. Wonderful experience.
