We had a lovely warm welcome, what a beautiful historic building. We just loved the whole atmosphere of this hotel. It was centrally located as well, making it easy to see Southampton without a vehicle.

Got a free upgrade to a lovely family room. Staff was really friendly, the location was amazing, the beds were comfortable, and the breakfast was very nice! Hope to stay here again in the future.

Overall the room was in good condition, there is however a lack of good ventilation. Our window opened into a narrow passage between buildings with little air flow.
The pillows were horrendous. It was like sleeping on a bag of foam balls.

Nice place. Close to pier for our cruise, so convenient location. Many stores within walking distance. Lift broken so not good if you have luggage. Would stay again but with less luggage.

Good hotel in a very convenient location, staff were very friendly and helpful. Lift was very old and difficult to operate, the floors were old and creaky, the hotel needs to have a good upgrade.

This is an old hotel so lots of character. There is an ancient lift that can take you up to the upper floors, but it is tiny. The walls are thin and the windows have no sound proofing so you can hear your neighbours as well as the noise from the High Street below. The staff were top notch and super helpful. Can’t say enough about them. The location is excellent and within walking distance to site seeing, shops, restaurants etc. We did have breakfast one morning in the hotel and would definitely not recommend. Expensive and terrible food. Overall we only stayed two nights before going on our cruise so it was doable but I doubt I’d stay here again.

Our trip was an overnight before a cruise
Mike at the front desk was wonderful as the wonderful night lady. The hotel is 200 years old. Had all the modern conveniences with a 1800 feel. When we got off the lift we had to take the steps to floor 2 1/2. Restaurants and lots of shopping was very close by 2 minute walk.would definitely choose this hotel again
