We booked the Premium Suite, which included a second room. Our stay included daily breakfast, and because we were Premium guests, we also had access to the 6th-floor lounge. The lounge was a wonderful and convenient amenity for us. They offered a variety of drinks, appetizers, pastries, and light food options, and we took advantage of it almost every day.
The hotel also had four restaurants, although we didn’t get a chance to dine at any of them. Barcelo also offered 24-hour room service, which was a nice added convenience.
Overall, we truly enjoyed our stay. The rooms were clean, the staff was friendly, the buffet-style breakfast had plenty of options, and the balcony view was beautiful. We would definitely recommend it.

When I arrived there was a fruit plate and I thought it was a complimentary plate. However, we went with family and had 2 other rooms and neither had fruit plates. The fruit plate stayed in our room for 2 days. On our second night we noticed that the bed was dirty, it had hair and dirt. I tried calling the reception but our phone didn't work. Had to go to reception to ask for someone to change the sheets and fix the phone. The phone couldn't be fixed so they wrote down the extensions to various departments. I had to request water bottles because the other rooms received water but ours didn't. The pool and the pool area didn't look to clean so we never got in the pool. We ordered room service and the cheeseburger had a small piece of cheese on it. Wouldn't stay at this hotel again and wouldn't recommend it.

The bartenders at the pool (Orlando) and inside (Actual) were great even though they ran out of beer, not their fault😂. I didn’t understand the cashiers job, wasted money as they did nothing but stare at their phones or read books. Not even help others with what they do, an efficiency expert would go nuts. Customer service at front desk was frustrating (maybe language barrier), they didn’t like splitting bills at the bar or restaurant like it was too much for them to do. The day we left they were supposed to make 3 to go breakfast sandwiches and one for our friend who is diabetic. They assured me a charcuterie dish would be prepared and it was even wrote down on paper, needless to say he had the same as us. The room was great and the maid did an excellent job, food was ok but I guess they use less seasoning over in Costa Rica than we do. If you do stay here stay on backside of hotel, our room was on the side of the highway.

L’emplacement de l’hôtel est idéal pour découvrir San José. La chambre était spacieuse, propre et confortable. Le petit-déjeuner était excellent. The place is clean.
The highway outside is loud and the windows are barely there. It sounds like the trucks using their engine braking are in the room with you and it’s busy all day and night.
The place is really dated.
AC is like a 1980’s car. Set it to a temperature and you have to put the fan on low, medium, high. Which means it’s loud all night.
Desk staff are friendly, but the bar staff are not. They are rude.
Buffet is repetitive and meh.
You’re not walking to anything. The hills and the highway mean you’re using a DiDi/uber everywhere.
