Our Cosy Double was as advertised -small but well furnished and equipped with everything you could need. It was very clean. We had a lovely view of the extensive gardens. The breakfast was delicious, plenty of choice and freshly prepared and great service too. We also had a meal in the bar and that too was very good. The gardens are delightful and we walked around them many times and it was a real bonus to have several sightings of the deer. A small negative was that we had not realised that there are some EV chargers tucked away at the very back of the car park, as there is no information on this on the website or booking form and it was not mentioned to us at any point. Only late in our stay did we become aware of this. Process for using them is also a bit clunky - you have to plug in and ask reception to activate and the fee is a bit steep £20 for 24hrs if you are just wanting to top up. Nevertheless we had a lovely stay and would highly recommend the hotel.

Good twin bed hotel room for a nights stay. Clean crisp bed linen. Powerful shower and plenty of hot water. Breakfast okay.

Excellent stay, fantastic staff, would stay there again

Overall we had a lovely stay. Only complaint was that we were cold in the evenings…it was less than 10° outside and the bar had air-conditioning on! We got really cold. The restaurant was also cold, so we only ate there the first night. The food was good, spoilt only by my poached eggs being cool the first day, and when I asked for them to be hot the second morning, they were only just warm! Otherwise a lovely breakfast. Shower very good, and plenty of hot water for baths to warm us up!

Wonderful hotels, the rooms were tastefully decorated, the pool and steam room was very clean and tidy and the gardens were lovely.

Hotel is quite nice for an old place but could do with a bit of TLC and some modernisation. However, the room was clean and comfortable (apart from the pillows which were like flagstones 😖) and there’s plenty of parking space. I got an attic style room and if I had a pound for every time I cracked my head on a ceiling beam, I’d have about £17 by now. The WiFi is poor and slow in room 302 but gets a bit faster when you’re in the bar area 🤔. The gym facilities were pretty good and the pool looked good too. I work all over the country, usually staying in 2/3 different hotels per week, and this one achieved the UK record for the most expensive pint of soda & lime I ever encountered 😳 £6.30!!! What a rip off!!! I don’t mind paying that (or quite often more than that) for a pint of lager, but for soda water and a splash of lime cordial …. that takes the biscuit … so much so that they didn’t get another penny out of me during my stay. I’d normally stay in the hotel for dinner and a few evening drinks but any establishment will only rip me off once, so I went out to spend my (company expenses) money elsewhere instead 👍 Needless to say there will be no return visit from me.

Really attentive staff and clean hotel

The staff were truly amazing. Very polite and interacted with the guests always with good conversation, communication and a nice smile. It’s nice to see this in our younger generations.

A lovely place to stay and very attentive and interested staff. The room was very spacious and comfortable although we found it quite hot and stuffy, particularly at night. The breakfasts were lovely and service was quick. The spa wasn’t as relaxing as hoped as you had to go back down a corridor if you wanted to visit the steam room, water fountain or sauna but still lovely to do.

Lovely hotel. Second time staying here and experiences consistently very good. Friendly and attentive staff, clean and comfortable rooms. Had room service both times and both times food was lovely. Breakfast also nice

The staff are courteous and friendly. The rooms are spotless and the facilities are very good. Great value for money.

Room was good. Aircon kept it at an acceptable temp (hotel was otherwise on the warm side). Sadly the food let it down. Both of the breakfasts I had were cold. The evening meal (function meal) was also cold. Staff were generally very good, but were let down by breakfast staff on the second day - had to ask twice for poached eggs. A lovely traditional hotel, let down by things which should be very easy to fix. I would return.
