Bit of a walk from the train station to the hotel (recommend taxi or uber), but once I got there, it was so nice to be able to relax in a comfy and spacious bed. Recommend going to the gym & swim facilities too; liked the steam room and lane swimming. Changing rooms excellent size. Relaxed atmosphere and helpful staff.
Bed so comfy I accidentally slept 10 hours and almost missed breakfast, but when I did go down to eat, there was still plenty of choice and room to sit. Would have liked there to be a hot chocolate option instead of just tea and coffee but that’s just personal preference.
In the evening, I liked the chicken health bowl and the comfy seating.
Overall, I would recommend the village hotel and would go back again. Many thanks.

This is a really good hotel plenty off amenities , very close to shops and the train and bus station.

This hotel was great for a quick stop over, however isn’t the best for quality of sleep. It might depend on which floor you stay on but our room was directly above the gym, which in the early hours woke us up with the music and dropping of weights. It’s a shame as the staff, facilities, pool area and room were all of great quality for the price and very comfortable. I might consider another stay but would definitely request the furthest room from the gym area.

Basic good Hotel - but way to small rooms! You cannot even put on small bag somewhere, where it doesn’t block the way. Also breakfast is quite expensive for what you get. But the staff was really nice and helpful, when we had a strange noise in our room, we got help right away and could switch the room.

Zara at your front of house is an absolute asset to your hotel. She made me feel very welcome and took care of my requests swiftly. Zara is probably the most friendly and proactive hotel front of house staff I have met in years and I stay in different hotels 4 nights a week.
Aurelia in the gym had the most amazing energy I have ever came across for a member of staff working in and around a hotel gym.
Village hotel Basingstoke either has exceptional leadership or is just very lucky to have staff like Zara & Aurelia. I imagine it’s both.
