Beware. We booked a “deluxe double room”. Our room was dirty, tiny (zero room to open luggage), and had an extremely steep ladder to the sleeping loft. None of these are shown in website pics. The mosquito net has large holes and doesn’t even fit over the mattress. We left to a clean and spacious room in another hotel for *less money*. Kent reimbursed us only half. I think he fully expects people to leave these “deluxe doubles” and then rebooks the rooms, bringing in extra income this way. No other way to explain it.

Charming and welcoming atmosphere

The staff were friendly and helpful and the location was perfect. We enjoyed looking for the street art and the Batik Museum was very interesting. Added bonus being in Penang for the Chinese New Year.

Lovely stay within heritage Chinese traditional home. We stayed in Private Room with Bathroom. Pros: Chinese Antiques in common space that is also a cafe for the public, great location, walkable to delicious delights, quiet except when Chinese Temple is practicing, AC works great, super friendly owner Ken & staff, very secure entry and safe neighborhood Cons: 2 level room, no screen on traditional window panels into open staircase, bed is on floor on 2nd level. I got bites from 2 mosquitos that managed to get into our room from the window panels and also got these very large bites on my back & neck from unknown while sleeping. I think it is likely spider ...

Absolutely clean room in lovely surroundings. Very quiet too and friendly owner. My room was amazingly clean. The location is great with plenty of restaurants and art around.

Dobra lokalizacja - blisko do murali i street foodow oraz restauracji (dzielnica rozrywkowa) Bardzo miły gospodarz! Dostaliśmy wiele mapek i wskazówek gdzie iść i co zjesc ;) Bardzo klimatyczne miejsce - ma swój styl w pozytywnym znaczeniu tego słowa! Z uwag: Głośno od ulicy (samochody, ludzie od samego rana nawet do 24 i czasem w nocy) oraz brak intymności w pokoju (pokoje oddzielone od siebie jakims materiałem na deseczkach - nawet szepty słychać z sąsiadującego pokoju), prysznic i toaleta (wspólne) na tarasie (zadaszone, ale nadal jakby pod gołym niebem)

The hotelier Ken is very kind and helpful. The wonderful house looks like the Peranakan homes you may see in Malacca and other places. Many restaurants and sites in historic Georgetown are within 2-10 minutes walking distance. Ken also lets guests rent a city bike for free.

Great atmosphere. Homely and friendly. Showers very basic.

Great location and very nicely designed space. Toilet can be a little small but this place is value for money. The owner , Kent , is very nice as well. Would definitely return.

La struttura è davvero carina e accogliente. La nostra camera aveva il bagno al piano rialzato. (Un po fastidioso salire e scendere da quella scala ripida ma niente di grave). Moontree47 è a pochi minuti di cammino dal centro di George Town, perfetta posizione per scoprire la città. Il ragazzo che ci ha accolti alla reception è stato troppo simpatico e cordiale.

Excellent ambience, facilities and location. Friendly host. Bonus would be the 2 resident cats :)

Super freundlicher Besitzer, der für jede Frage zu haben ist. Tolles familiäres und sehr schön eingerichtetes Hostel. Einziges Manko, Leider war unser Zimmer nicht komplett zu, wodurch wir alle Geräusche aus dem Hostel in unserem Zimmer hören konnten.

Good location to the heart of Georgetown. But this time have had a bad experience with the other guest in the room next door and the smoke outside from a joss house next door.

Everything is good for value, only the shared bathroom may need to improve a bit.

Beautiful shabby chic bnb in the heart of George town. Charming interior design, upcycling at its finest! Room was clean, spacious and shared bathroom/shower facilities were kept clean and well stocked. Kent, MoonTree's charismatic owner was always available and willing to help. Great value and relaxed vibe. WiFi could do with a boost, although there are plenty of local cafes and cheap sim deals to compensate.
