Amazing stay
Kent is a charming host. His hostel is everything you looking for in George Town: authentic with a perfect situation. The room is very nice, and you'll find everything you need there. Kent is full of good adresses and really helpful. I highly recommand Moontree 47 !

A great place to stay
This is a good place to stay if you are going to explore GeorgeTown, the location is excellent. The accommodation is basic but very clean and Kent is a great host. You are really close to Love Lane where you can enjoy drinks and food.

A quirky spot so relaxing.
This is an old Chinese styled guest house. It is one of the quirkiest places I have ever stayed. The entrance and front reception are like a scene from a Harry Potter movie. There is a small restaurant area with a small courtyard with seating. My room was at the rear of the courtyard with large leafy plants along the path. My room was so unusual with a double bed with mosquito net. A/c and fan . Very basic. It contained a steep stairs or more like a ladder to an open air loft where my toilet shower and sink were and a seating area. It is basic but wonderful. Extremely relaxing and chilled. Despite the basic bedroom area it was so cool and comfortable to sleep in. The housekeeper and her son were very helpful. She was great for laundry. So quick and cheap. Overall it is a little expensive but it was a wonderful place to stay. Not for elderly person.

More than I bargained for -- and at bargain rates!
In a neighbourhood full of expensive "flashpacker" guest houses, this one is the Real Deal. Suitable for backpackers, couples, families, and even little ole lady budget travellers like me! Congenial host/owner Kent will make you feel right at home. And home is an interesting, quirky old place with surprisingly beautiful outdoor facilities on the roof! The guest house itself is an old-style Penang "shop house" and the lobby still functions as a shop. Special tip -- you can get almost all the "street art" photo postcards here AND mail them from the big red mailbox at the door! Accommodation is basic and simple but also quaint and cozy. The courtyard cafe -- open to the public -- was one of my favourite places to hang out any time of day. You're just off the famous "Love Lane" and a short walk from the Blue Mansion, as well as close to stops on the free bus. Only thing you need to know before you book: you MUST be a "cat person"... seriously.

Mixed emotion
It is a sweet place with a great host. A nice old world charm that reminds me of travelling 30 years ago. I think if I was setting off on my first big new adventure now it would quaint and a bohemian find. Truth is it doesn't give me much for its price point, needs to think more about comfort for the money being charged.
