Dated & need’s refurb

Cheap and cheerful a nice clean space to rest my head. The outside could do with a spruce up but for what we paid and how close it is to the train station for Cardiff I have no complaints! Will definitely stay again when attending a concert in Cardiff. Staff were really nice and helpful. Bed was comfortable and the pillows were perfect! Nice big towels too. For the Gavin and Stacey fans Gwens house is only 0.3 miles away so a great place to start if you’re site spotting 😊

Everything was on top quality and staff verry nice and helpfull.

The staff were all amazing, they were there for whatever you needed and happy to help. The place was very well located, close to the train station and with beautiful views over Barry. The room was very good for the price, tho it lacked some basics (like a bin on the bathroom), and it was in need of a retouch. I'm fact, the whole place, while clean, needed a small refurbishment. It was sad that at the time of the stay they couldn't serve breakfast on the beautiful room they had at the front of the hotel. Maybe next time

Hotel was clean enough, rooms quite basic. No food available at all, not even bar snacks. No bottled water behind the bar. A basic hotel , reasonably priced, train ride from Cardiff which was useful

Staff were amazing, we stayed during a heatwave and they were helpful with ice from the bar. Other instances such as needing forks, hangers in our room and new towels were treated with the same professionalism ! The rooms do need a bit of updating but for what it was the price is exstremely reasonable. The room was very clean when we arrived. We didn’t have any housekeeping during our stay, but that is our preference so this did not affect us. Ideal stay as a couple visiting Cardiff or the surrounding areas.

Not great if you don't have great mobility top of a steep hill , but apart from that hotel is lovely , staff very helpful

Always like staying at the Mount rooms Staff was very friendly and helpful. I think the rooms could be tidied up a little bit more and maybe some pictures on the wall but always a nice friendly stay. Train station 300m away straight into Cardiff central. Could walk straight onto Barry Island from the hotel in about 20 minutes and you’ve also got the lovely area of the cold knap pebble Beach close by.

If it’s hot bring a fan is my top tip, as there is no air con and our sash windows on the first floor only partially open, we even had one that was nailed shut and another had an old pop bottle left there to prop it open. The bathroom was basic. No plug for the sink and no mixer tap so you have either hot or cold water. The shower curtain was set too high so didn’t drop into the bath and water went all over the bathroom floor. Only one half full container of hand/body gel was supplied for our family room and we had to go ask for missing bath towel. Room and bathroom were clean. Bedding looked ok but never got into the bed as the room was far too hot. Some of the pillows though were old and stained. Not sure if this is a permanent thing but when we arrived we were told the restaurant is closed and food won’t be available during our stay, so that meant no breakfast included or alternative on offer. Parking is also limited, and not a lot on the street near by. Staff were excellent, helpful and friendly. The hotel is on a hill and in a good location, great views from the front and walking distance to the station and a pub that serves food including breakfast. If you don’t mind a bit of a longer walk you can make it down to the beach and Barry Island in around 15-20 mins. But the large car park near the beach was reasonably priced. For the price this hotel is ok, you’d need to be prepared to compromise on luxury for its convenience to local amenities.

We used the hotel as a base to tour Barry island and go to a concert in Cardiff. Staff were excellent and very helpful. It was the hottest week of the year so far and the inside rooms were roasting. Perfect spot to tour Barry and surrounding area, 5mins walk down hill from a Wetherspoons and centre. Hotel was good value for what we paid. Bar was open till 1am but quiet

The property is in a brilliant location which is ideal for Barry and Barry Island. The staff are great and helpful. The hotel just needs an update. It would be great if the Bistro was available for guests. The price is really good value so the decor is ok.

Hotel looked tired. But the room I had was good and clean

We stayed here for 2 nights as was seeing take that the circus tour ,when we arrived we got a friendly welcome everything was explained to use and was close to train station and places to eat ,the room was clean and comfortable as well, bad points were there wasn't a breakfast option and the the car park is really small we had to park on opposite side of road at 1 point in our stay .

Lovely hotel in barry and very close to barry train station so it is a very convenient location. The room was clean and comfortable and for the cost of the room it was good value and cheaper than cardiff.

Quite basic room, no frills, but clean and tidy. Price reflects the standard of rooms. Little decoration issues, but nothing too major. Staff were absolutely brilliant, very helpful, polite and smart. Would definitely recommend the hotel if you're on a budget, but if you're after luxury, this wouldn't be the hotel for you. There's no eating facilities there, but a nice bar.

Really nice stay, Although a little tired and dated, don't be put off. Everything we needed, clean rooms, great price, great breakfast and amazing friendly and helpful staff. So much more personably than a premier inn or similar. Highly recommended.
